Hello everyone! I'm Jiggy and I'm an eat-a-holic. No disrespect intended - but it's true. The name is short for 'jigmeister', a nickname I got from some bass-fishing buddies.... but that's another off-topic story.
I'm 5'10, 273 lbs (270 this morning) and on my way down. In 2000, I got up to my heaviest at 264lbs. I was miserable and decided I'd lose weight. Using just diet and walking, I lost 19lbs. I learned of Body For Life and knew it would work. I completed a Body For Life challenge in October of 2000. Beginning the challenge at 245lbs, I lost 27lbs of fat and gained 12lbs of muscle in 3 months. The scales said I'd only lost 15lbs but my pictures and BF check showed the real story. After the challenge, I decided to take a week off before beginning another one. I got a good start but 5 weeks in I was in a car accident. Due to injuries, I was out of work for 6 weeks and couldn't exercise at all for 4 or 5 weeks. I got depressed and quit following the program altogether. The job I had at the time required a lot of walking. So once I got back to work, I continued to lose weight.... I got down to 218lbs! However, I was stupid and never got back on my real exercise and eating routine. I've tried to start back several times but I've let back issues, job situations and life prevent me from succeeding. Slowly over the last 10 years I have eased back up to a whopping 273lbs at the ripe old age of (almost) 49. It's much harder to lose weight at 48 than it was a 38!!
So here I am. I started Monday following the BFL plan mainly because it worked for me before. I'm eating clean. I'm exercising as best I can. I have lower back issues which prevent several really good programs and even several exercises I would otherwise do (squats, dumbell rows, lunges, jump rope, running....) So I'm doing what I can do and not worrying about what I can't.
I know it's mostly water-weight but I've actually lost 3lbs. You have no idea how good that feels! The treadmill work (morning and evening) have my energy up and I'm not lathargic. I already feel better.
In 2000, I also started and maintained a Yahoo Group called BFL2000 for several years. I knew what to do. I knew the science. I know what to do and what not to do... I just failed to apply it after the accident. So, while I'll lean heavily (pun intended) on you guys for "thinspiration", I'll also share what knowledge I've learned and pick your brains for things I don't know!
I wish each of you all the success you are willing to work for!
