Jenn's Diary

Was going to have ice cream tonight, but have canned that idea due to timbit attack.
That's a smart idea. We all get those nasty junk food attacks. The best way to deal with it when it happens is to just work around it and make changes elsewhere. Keep pushing on!

Drained today. I've been sleeping really well, but I just think it's that time of the year. It's soooo cold, you just want to stay and cuddle in bed all day. Work has definitely picked up as well, over the last couple of weeks. I need to get back into busy mode.

Anyhow - 175! Yeah! :D
My Feb 1st goal of 170lbs is on the horizon. Achievable? Not sure. :confused:

Didn't get to toning last night. I've been putting it off lately. The boy wasn't feeling too good last night. So we spent most of the evening cuddling on the couch. I am taking him skiing this weekend for the first time, so that will definitely be strength (physical and mental, LOL) training. Might get for a little walk to the grocery store on my lunch today, but like I said it's so bitterly cold.

Timbits are only 1 pt each. Good and bad. Good that I didn't go over my points for yesterday. Bad because the point amount is so little, there is a possiblity of more in the future.

Breakfast: same - 3pts;
Lunch: same - 2pts;
Supper: haven't completely figured it out. For sure vension sausage. Thinking about some tater tots and beans. I know the boy will eat that (he's in his picky stage). Don't know the total points for supper yet, but will make necessary adjustments to accommodate the range.
Snack: All Bran bar - 2pts.

So chickened out of walking to the grocery store. But hey at -15 (-25 w the wind chill:eek: ), who could blame me.

Anyhow, I picked up some green tea to keep at the office. It tastes better everytime I drink it. It seems to really help pre-occupy me when I'm making supper and after supper, to help with the continued eating. Thought I'd keep some here to drink throughout the day, since it's so good for you. I also bought Captain Highliners Light Fillets - only 3 pts for 2 fillets. Sounds good. I also got Green Giant broccoli, carrots and cauliflower with cheese sauce (because the hubby would complain it there wasn't a sauce) - only 1pt per cup. Awesome! However, my choice of McCain's regular tater tots worked out to be 5pts for 10 tots.:(

So it's till up in the air what to have with the vension tonight. I'm leaning towards the veggies, maybe make some rice to go with it. That would make the supper points = 14 pts <2 sausages w diana sauce (9), .5c rice (3), 2c veggies (2)>. Total points for the day = 21 pts.

Will definitely have to tone tonight, since I didn't walk.

See you all tomorrow!

I am not reading diaries today, so I hope you had a great day! i didn't and have a lot to get done, so that's why I am just rushing through.

Couldn't post Friday. Had my son at work with me for the morning. Pink eye! Great start to the weekend.

Anyhow, we got out skating Saturday morning. He actually skated this time. Probably because my parents came skating too. The little bugger turned around and even skated away from us. I'm so proud - *gush*. Didn't feel too hot Saturday night. Sunday morning was down to 174. Awesome! However, when I woke up this morning I just knew that I would weigh heavier. Mondays also seem to be bloated, water retention days. I stepped on the scale then backed off. Didn't get a good read, so I'm not even tracking today's weight. The way I see it, if I drink my water today, I'll be back down tomorrow or by Wednesday. Need to flush. Can't see me making my Feb1st goal of 170. But I'm not far off, and having lost 10lbs in one month already is great. I did some quick measurements on the weekend and overall was down about 5 inches. I was also able to get into a pair of ski pants that I could get any of the zippers done up on a month ago. Got some lots of toning in yesterday, and snow shovelling. No walking today, too cold. Will get some toning in tonight. I'm going to check out the library tomorrow for the "Running for Dummies" book.

We didn't get skiing on the weekend. Saturday would have been too busy, and Sunday was too cold. I swear to God that I will get him out before the season is over!

Back on track today!
Breakfast: fibre first cereal and milk, black coffee - 3pts;
Lunch: tuna and All Bran bar - 4pts;
Supper: Captain Highliner Healthy bake fillets and tater tots - 13pts.

Have a good day everyone!

Oh, there is so much satisfaction in zipping up clothes that in the past wouldn't zip!

It sounds like you're doing great :D

Hey Jenn, you asked about the walking dvd's I use, they are Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone. There is 3 complete workouts, the 1 mile get up and get started,the 2 mile high calorie burn, and the 3 mile super fast burning. I love them, they are a fast and easy workout that really do work. I bought them about 2 years ago after I had my son. Keep up the good work!!

Sounds like you're doing well. Congrats on the 5-inch loss! To be honest, I never really thought about measuring myself. Perhaps I'll start doing that too! 'Cause when you're burning fat and gaining muscle, it's kind of hard to trust the number on the scale.

Sooo tired today. Absolutely no engery. The "water weight" from Sunday came down 2lbs, but still up 1lb. Refusing to change my ticker. Trying to get my water in today to help flush more. But I have only managed 16oz, and it's already 1:05pm. I need to step it up this afternoon. I think the problem is that I woke up with 2 cold sores this morning, which not only pisses me off but deters me from drinking. I'm also grumpy today, on edge. Don't no exactly why, but thankfully my husband is working tonight so he can't piss me off. It's okay if he is in a mood, but not okay for me! ERRRRRRR!:mad:

Need to exercise. Haven't been doing much lately. Too cold to walk, too tired at the end of the day. It would probabley help the mood. Whatever.

Hope to stay in range today. Last night went on a bit of a choclate chip binge. Probabley the cause of the cold sores, and that one extra pound hanging on. I keep meaning to go back to my first day of journaling and reflect on the goals I had set. I know I've gone off a few, but am still managing a 10 - 11 pound weight loss this month. I'm happy, but wanted to hit 170 by Feb 1st. Just means I have to push harder in Febraury to get to 160. And, February is a short month - **curses under breath**.:eek:

Breakfast - same - 3pts;
Lunch - same - 2pts;
Supper - undecided. May make something the boys would like and stick with something very small for myself. Wouldn't get the points range for the day, so could be beneficial - or could send me off the deep end. JUST STAY AWAY FROM CHOCOLATE CHIPS AND OTHER JUNK!!!!!:mad:

So I decided to switch it up a bit and change my lunch. Instead of a little can of tuna for 2 pts, I am having the whole carton of Campbell's Gardenay Broccoli with Parmesan soup - 2pts! Holy poop! Lots more fibre in it was well. Unfortunatley my choice for supper isn't good and I can't resist. I chose meat tortellini, paired it up with Classico Sundried Tomato Alfredo sauce and garlic bread. I decided the garlic bread is for my son and husband only, as it did not have a break down of calories/fat/fibre on it. So I will still stay in point range w 2 servings of tortellini and sauce, but was hoping for something lighter (maybe even a fasting evening). Oh well.

Also I found Running for Dummies at the library, which I will start to read tonight. But even more fun, is the Yoga Kids dvd (for my son and I to do) and the Belldance Fitness Fusion Pilates for Beginners (for me). I've tried yoga before, but the tape I had was too advance for starters. I also use to do pilates a lot, and found it very beneficial, but once I had my c-section I didn't get back into it.

We'll see how it goes!:p

Those books/DVDs sound great! The Yoga one for you and your son sounds like it would be a hoot! How great of you to incorporate your little one into your fitness plan.

Reflections of One Month

Well here I sit, pretending to work. Searching the forums. I wanted to look back on my first day here. I've been with the forum for a month now, and man, has it helped. I'm officially 11 lbs lighter and 7 inches slimmer. Oh, if I only knew of this place long ago. I have enjoyed being here, meeting and learning from you all. The motivation and advise has helped so much. I thank-you!

I went back to my first post....my diary, and took some pieces to reflect on, to see if I'm heading in the right direction or for disaster.:rolleyes:

So.... this morning, I've gotten off to a better start. I'm going to try a combination of things, in my weight loss journey.
1 - follow WW points plan;
2 - limit sugar;
3 - drink more water;
4 - limit alcohol;
5 - exercise more.

I lost 29lbs with WW before I got married (almost 4 yrs ago), and have tried to follow it since (without going to meetings). It's a lot harder to follow with the support meeting, but I'm hoping with the support from this forum will help. I have also stopped drinking my coffee with sugar, and I'm not a big soda drinker. I have a bad habit of not drinking enough water through the day, and will over load with water before bed. I tend to not end up drinking enough for the day. I use to drink 3 litres when I was on WW, while at work. So I hope to get into that habit again. Limiting alcohol isn't a problem, as I don't drink much anymore since my son was born.

I would say for the most part I'm on track.
1 - I am still following WW plan, counting points. My fear of not being able to follow it without the meetings, has been replaced by the suppport I receive here. Actually come to think about it, when I was in WW, I never participated in the meetings. I just sat there and listened to everyone else. This is probabley one of the reasons I quit going - what was I getting out of it?
2 - I do struggle with limiting my sugar. However, I am still drinking my coffee without sugar (and now without milk). I have replaced my binge eating while preparing supper, with sipping on green tea. The Christmas baking is gone (however there are still some open ingredients that are tempting - ie the chocolate chips). And, I rarely eat dessert.
3 - Drinking more water. I joined the Water Drinking Challenge post. Started out obsessively drinking as much water as I could every day. Only to learn that too much water is bad for you. So I now try to aim for 64-96oz a day, with the exception of my bloated days - I tend to aim for 112oz (flushing effects).
4 - Limiting alcohol? Not a problem. As I had mentioned in that post, it was really over Christmas that it came into play. Haven't had a drop of alcohol since New Year's Eve.
5 - Exercise more. Now that one is hit and miss. When I started this the weather was absolutley beautiful. Unseasonably warm for Ontario and no snow. I started walking again on my lunches, started toning at night. Then winter finally hit. I've done a bit of toning and a little walking, but once those winter blahs hit - look out! I have replaced a few things with teaching my son how to skate, and god help me I'll teach him how to ski this year too! Yesterday I mentioned I picked up a Kids Yoga DVD and a Bellydancing Pilates DVD from the library. Did them both last night. The yoga with my son was fun, may even help him to relax and focus. The bellydancing pilates was different. I had to isolate my butt cheeks and tighten each cheek, alternating from left to right while sitting on the floor! It was hard, and to watch it on tv was the most unreal thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Their butts all looked fake and I was in awe. Needless to say my ass hurts today, so there must be something to this. I also starting reading "Running for Dummies", with the intensions of starting to jog in the spring.

So all in all, I'd say I'm on track. Everyone has slip ups. You just have to pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Did I make my January goal of 170? No, but at 174 I was pretty darn close. 11 lbs in one month, I should be happy. 7 inches! Thrilled. Will I make my goal of 160 by the end of February? Don't know, but I'm sure as hell going to try!

Breakfast: fibre first cereal w milk, black coffee - 3pts;
Lunch: Merriterrain Tomato Soup (Campbell's Gardenay, whole carton) - 2pts;
Supper: undecided at this point in time. However hubby not working tonight, so I wont feel rushed and will have the opportunity to make wise decisions.

My new motto: Exercise for the health of it, not for the hell of it!:cool:

Good luck to all of you out there, and wishing you all success in your journey!:D

hey 2phat this is a great idea...maybe this is something i'll do in about 5 days :) i want to see if there is any change, and i think it is, and i'm not talking about weight. just writing in diary and supporting others has helped me in more ways than i thaught it could.
Love the new motto :)
have a great day, Lena

Haha! Fantastic motto. I'm glad to hear that you've reflected on your original goals and are able to feel pleased with yourself. You've come a long way already! Congratulations and keep up the good work.

Hey 2phat I just read your last post and it was inspiring! Congrats on the 11lbs and 7 inches that is great for 1 month! Also, can you tell me what the name of the pilates for kids you have? That sounds interesting and I think my oldest son would really enjoy doing it with me. Keep up the great work!!
