Jay's Weight Loss Thingamajiggy!

Woke up pretty late today, for lunch I had two low fat turkey hot dogs. I was really craving bread today and havent had any in a while, so I had two buns with it. For dinner I had some really yummy smoked mesquite chicken from the grocery store. And ill prolly have a salad or a protein bar after the gym. Will report in again after the gym with any weight updates. :)

Great job finding healthy things to eat on the go! You're calories are kind of low... but you can work on that:)

Congrats on your move back to Florida. I bet it was a relief to get everything sorted out.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks :) Yea, it was a huge relief. I should have got to the gym tonight, but I just took a shower and I feel nice and warm and comfy. So im gonna go tomorrow. Two days off should give enough time for my arms to stop feeling sore. :rotflmao:

Hey Jay, just checking out your diary here. Nice pics, very handsome guy! Absolutely excellent job on the exercise and the weight lifting!!!! But, if you dont mind me asking..what is up with the self torture?? I dont think any of us have the will power it takes to have a heap of our favorite junk on our desk and then avoid it. Most of us avoid junk by not having it around. I'm also wondering about the "all or nothing" approach. Obviously before your weight loss plan you were eating upwards of 5000 calories (according to the calorie mainenance counter), so what has changed that you're now consuming less than 1500 calories? Is this something you can or want to sustain? Aren't you afraid of slowing down your metabolism? Just be careful. Sometimes people get really gung-ho in the beginning and then they can't keep up the extreme behavior they've recently adopted and then go back to their old ways in full force. Sorry for the rant, I was just concerned.

Hi Blancita, thank you for reading and the great comments. :) The thing is, my main problem has ALWAYS been about willpower. If its there, I eat it. And no matter what, even if I eat healthy. If theres something in the house, or if im at a party I want to eat it. I need to train myself, just like I train myself in weights or walking, to see food but not care that it is there. I think that is the best way!

As for the calories, its really not that im trying to consume less. But im eating healthy until im full, and its hard for me to fit in multiple meals a day. (though im trying and with some changes in my life now, its going to be much easier.) If I was hungry, trust me, nothing would stop me from going to that fridge and eating. But im not! Its been about 3 weeks, and sure ive gone off track about 2 or 3 times. But when I did it, I still managed to do it right. A grilled chicken sandwich with no fries at a fast food joint. A sandwich and cake on the 4th. etc. And then I got right back on the plan. The metabolism thing I dont really think I need to worry about yet, I think that going from sitting all day and eating fast food, to exercising and eating right is going to do better for it no matter what the intake. Or I hope so anyway!

Again thanks :)

Whew, busy day again. For breakfast I had a low carb wrap, some slices of fresh cut deli turkey (mesquite low sodium boars head, YUM) and a slice of low fat provolone.

Later on I had a low sodium v8, and then a few hours later went to the theatre. I got a ceasar chicken wrap with fries. My first time having fries in the 3-4 weeks ive been on this diet. I figure that sundays will be my "one meal semi-cheat" even though ill still keep the meal moderately healthy. I only hate half the portion of fries (im learning to leave food on my plate, crazy!!) and didn't even enjoy them that much. I think i'd prefer the grilled chicken salad over it.

I went to the gym straight after (to burn off that cheat meal) and did 45 minutes on the tread, 5 minutes 2.0 speed, 15 minutes 2.5 speed, 25 minutes 3 speed. I did 20 minutes straight on 3mph. So im really starting to gain up on speed. Im able to even do 3.5 for a few seconds. After that I did a few reps with the free weights, still just doing my arms mostly since its what I know how to do. And its more about burning right now than toning anyway imo!

Whew, im wiped! G'night dearest readers. :drooling:

Hi Jay :). I'm so happy to hear that you're not hungry on your new plan. That's all I was really worried about as no one can keep up hunger for long before caving. But maybe the added nutrition is making up for it and keeping you satiated. Excellent job on all the healthy changes you've made.

Just wanted to note that where you said you're just trying to burn (calories I assume) rather than build so you're doing arms (and its also all you know how to do so I hear you on that), you tend to burn the most calories working the larger muscle groups such as the legs/butt and also the back and chest. When you work the back and chest, you end up hitting the shoulders and arms at the same time. But I find you burn a lot doing leg work, so see if your friend can show you show you some exercises you can do. Not sure what you may be limited to size wise. Matter fact, you remind me an awful lot of coachcrimson who has a diary on here. He would know as he's around your size and an athletic coach.

Hi Jay,

It's great that you're learning to leave food on the plate:) ... there's such a big difference between full and stuffed.

Great job at the gym! You're time and speed are really building up.

Have a great day,
~Jenna

Ok, where to start, where to start! I most definitely fell off the horse. During my move from Texas, back to Florida, with a lot of expenses, and a ton of job issues/problems to work though I went back to my old ways. This time I didn't get back going, and its been months since my diet started. I kept making excuses and saying i'd get back to it monday, or the 1st of this month, or the new year. But it never happened!

One of my main problems, was finding a gym. I no longer had my gym which was open 24/7 (I had to go after midnight because of work usually) and so without that I just said well theres no point in dieting right!

Soo finally im ready to get started again, and im starting tomorrow. Got in my last slice of pizza today.

I am starting

Premade "fresh" no preservative food. It just got here today, and I begin my first week on it tomorrow. My main problem is I have neither the time, willpower, or interest in making my own meals and counting all of my calories at this point of my life! I think the program solves all of that for me, and we'll see how well it goes!

I'll update here to let you guys know. Its expensive, 130~ dollars a week give or take. But then again, its also expensive buying food out every single night like ive been doing!

Glad to be back here though, and I think that the second time is going to blow away the first. :patriot:

4 days in now with the meal plan from ediets! Very good food, nothing yet that I have not liked. And most of it is restaurant quality stuff! :hurray:

Ive changed a few things this time around, and one of the major things is I will only weigh myself in once a week. No more daily weighing myself.

I also need to get out and exercise more! A new gym is opening nearby, so as soon as that opens im going to join again. But aside from that I just need to get out in the day before work more.

Woohoo, can't wait for saturday to see my progress!
