Jamie's Healthy BMI Countdown

Weekend Report - Friday Night

So, I'm back from my weekend without my diary...

Friday night dinner was not what I posted. DH and I have a bad habit of changing out plans which can make it hard for me to plan ahead! Anyway, DH's family owns a restaurant, so we went there for dinner, and I used my right to a "cheat night" for some not so healthy treats.

For dinner, I had:

5 fried mozzarella sticks with sauce as an appetizer and a club sandwich (turkey, ham, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, on three slices of white bread). There were also a few chips on my plate, coleslaw and a pickle - I ate all of it.

Also, I didn't exercise! DH rented us movies - and I guess I had a complete and total "night off!"

I'm trying to not feel guilty - everyone deserves a night off now and then! What's done is done! All that matters now is I got back on the horse right away!

Weekend Report - Saturday

Saturday's Progress

Weight: 170.4 (1.2 above minimum)

Meals:

Breakfast
2 cups grapes

Lunch
12 small potstickers with sauce

Dinner
5 oz baked, breaded, boneless, skinless chicken breast
fresh mango

Exercise: 30 mins treadmill/1.5 miles

*Also, DH and I went shopping for a couple hours so I got some walking in there too.

*Also, kudos to me for avoiding eating out while we were shopping - we were near tons of restaurants...and places like Auntie Anne's in the mall. I wasn't even tempted...I kept my eye on the ball and my mind on the food at home in my freezer. Good for my butt and my wallet!

So, basically, in a nutshell, my eating habits weren't too great this weekend....not horrible...but not something to be proud of either. I didn't go over my target calories (except for Friday, my "cheat night"), but I recognize that I also wasn't eating the most healthy, balanced foods (Saturday!) that I could be eating. Sunday went well, and at least I exercised two days, so I guess all is not lost.

This morning I was back down to 169.4...only 0.2 lbs above my lowest weight to date of 169.2. I really want to work hard to show a loss this week. Even if it's 1 "official" lb! (I only count my Sunday weights as my "official weight" and the lowest Sunday weight to date is 170.4...which I weighed both two Sundays ago and this most recent past Sunday.)

I feel very pretty today...which is good. My self confidence had really taken a down hill slide there for a while. DH took me shopping this weekend and I got Bare Escentuals makeup for the first time ever, and it looks great! No more baggies under my eyes! Also, I fixed my hair nice and pretty today, so I'm feeling good! (Hopefully, I'll get some pics on soon)

I noticed something about myself on Friday and feel the need to mention again today. In the past, when I felt bad about myself, it was always weight related...lately, when I'm feeling bad about myself, it hasn't been weight related. My clothes have been fitting great, and I've been feeling good about my body. Am I finally kicking some of my body-loathing issues? Or just projecting them on other areas...such as my general appearance (hair, makeup, etc.)? I don't know - I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, better get some work done! Will post a menu plan and exercise plan shortly!

Tootles...

Update on Evening of 2/25

Last night went well. I ate what I planned, and my first installment of the couch to 5K went okay. I thought I was gonna die from the 20:00 min mark to the 25:00 min mark...but then it was time to slow down, so it was all good. I feel very proud of myself. I kept telling myself that anyone can do anything for 1 minute every time I had to jog. And at one point, Kanye West's "Stronger" came on, which made me work even harder! Good motivation music!

My treadmill is several years old and a rather cheap one from Wal-mart, so today I am feeling it's lack of shock absorbtion in my hips...but I'm sure, as I lose weight and as my body adjusts to jogging...that pain will lessen. It was only one jogging session...not nearly time to throw in the towel yet! Thankfully, I do have New Balance anti-pronation shoes to keep me from getting shin splints, or I'd be in a world of pain!

I didn't do abs on the exercise ball because they were still sore from Sunday night. I must have worked them good because they were sore when I moved or when I laughed or sneezed! I hate when you have to sneeze and you know your abs are sore. I end up kind of holding the sneeze in and not letting it come out the whole way because I know it's gonna hurt my abs.

All in all, Monday was a good day - a day to be proud of!

Will post on today shortly...

Tuesday 2/26 Diary Entry

It's a beautiful morning....

Well, not really. The weather sucks!! It's snowing...again. I am so ready for tanned legs, pedicures, and sexy sandals!

BUT, it still is a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L morning because, I AM DOWN TO 169.0 lbs!! 0.2 lbs lower than my lowest weight to date, OR my NEW LOWEST WEIGHT!! :hurray: I am SO HAPPY!! If I lose 8 more lbs, I will be lower than I've been since my wedding day almost three years ago. And that weight, 162, was my lowest since college! I CAN do this! I WILL do this!

As you may have seen in my earlier post from last night, I did my first exercise from the cool runnings website's Couch to 5K plan. Maybe this harder exercise is what I needed to boost my losses again. I had been working out...but just walking...no jogging. The great thing is instead of my usual walking at 3.0 MPH for an hour and only getting in 3 miles, I was able to do the C25K workout and get in 2 miles in 30 minutes.

In addition, I would again like to thank maleficent and abbagirl for convincing me to eat more...I also think this has helped tremendously to get me back on track...and I didn't even show a gain like I feared I would. So thanks again!

OMG Ok, you need to go to "THE CLUB" section and join the COuch to 5K club. It jsut started yesterday and there are several members so far.

Just a place for us to write our successes and complications etc. We'd love to have you.

BTW, I'm glad you have started eating more and you'll need it to fuel your body with these exercises!!

Hope to see ya over there too!

Tasha :waving:

Thanks for the invite Tasha! Yay...the cool kids wanna hang out with me!

I was just reading some of your diary yesterday too...and I saw you were doing C25K too...I actually see a lot of similarities in your situation and mine and feel I can relate to your diary entries a lot.

I will definitely pop in when I get a chance and join your group. I could use the extra motivation and support. I'm not what you'd call a "natural runner" like some people...so this is gonna be tough for me. But, maybe with some extra support, it won't be so bad!

See you some time today in the C25K club!

I too am not a natural runner. My brother, he could run like there was no tomorrow when we were younger..he broke the school record for 3mile Cross Country finishing in just under 15 minutes, so he was good. I- well, I was a sprinter the year I ran track and only did the 100M and 4X100M so short short distances for me. =) This too is going to be a challenge. I think perhaps my jogging and walking for the last 2 months already though will help out.

So glad to have you join the group!

Update on Evening of 2/26

As usual, last night's dinner did not go according to plan. My MIL had bought DH and I a couple of Hormel boneless pork roasts. I thought these sounded like they would be similar to the boneless pork tenderloins that I love. Anyway, I checked the package directions for cooking time and left a note for DH to put the roast on for dinner last night. Well, the package's recommended cooking time was no where near what it should have been because when we cut the roast open last night, it was all bloody and raw. Not only that, as DH was slicing it into smaller pieces so it would cook faster, I noticed it was also gristly and fatty, and pretty much lost my appetite right there and then. I didn't want to not eat dinner because then I would have had a whopping 600-650 calories, so, I had to make a quick change of dinner plans. Rummaging through the freezer, I picked what I could cook the most quickly so I could get to my workout.

Here is my actual dinner last night:

12 small chicken & vegetable potstickers with sauce
2 small pieces of chocolate
multivitamin
64 oz Crystal Light
16.9 oz water

On a good note - my workout did go as planned! Go me!

Wednesday 2/27 Diary Entry

Good morning!

Once again, it's SO freaking cold here in PA! Aghhh....will winter be over any time soon?!?! Sorry to start out with a rant, I'm just really tired of winter! :ack2: It took everything I had to throw the covers off and get out of bed today. I just want the sun to shine and for it to be warm and not depressing outside.

Today is another good day as far as the scale...I weighed 168.6 this morning! A new low for me. Who'da thunk eating more would boost my losses?!

What a day...the cold, cold weather and lack of sunshine and green grass just has me in a funk. I'm also really tired this morning which isn't helping. I've been really tired lately...like for the past couple of weeks, and I've had bluish-purple bags under my eyes for the same period of time. I sleep a lot, so I honestly don't think it's lack of sleep. I typically am in bed every night between 9:30 - 10:00 PM and get up every morning at 7 AM, so I don't think 9 to 9 1/2 hrs of sleep every night is too little. And on the weekends, I go to bed around the same time (might stay up until 11:00 PM) and sleep until 9:00 or 9:30 AM, so again, lots of sleep. I also have lots of bruises lately. I'm clumsy and run into stuff all the time, so it's no surprise where they come from...I guess I just seem to have a lot of them. Someone at work suggested I might be low on iron. If anyone reading this has a suggestion as to what might be causing my fatigue, let me know. I drink one Slimfast a day and take a multivitamin, so my vitamin levels shouldn't be too terrible. I have a doctors appointment coming up soon, so if it's not better by then, I'll ask my doctor, and maybe they'll do some bloodwork.

Well, back to work - will post my meal plan and exercise plan for today shortly.

 It's time to have a party!! Way to go Jamie. I answered you over in the C25K thread and decided I'd find my way over to your diary.

I saw your listed water consumption, and while 67 ounces isn't terrible, I was wondering with this running and stuff if you can slowly start adding another 8 oz glass weekly. This way you don't shock your system too much and have to potty every 5 seconds. I know I'm not that great of a role model because I'm only getting like 80-90 oz normally, but I'm too going to work my way up with all this extra mileage, we need it! (Not to mention it helps with skin hydration during these cold months). Haha.

Ok, I hope you have a wonderful day!!

Thanks for the answer on C25K and the tip on water, Tasha.

As you will see, since I updated with my dinner, I have a lot more ozs of fluids on there.

In total:

36 oz diet mt dew
64 oz crystal light
84.5 oz water

184.5 oz of fluids total (and believe it or not, I don't live in the bathroom like you'd think I would!)

I think I'm okay on fluids, but I do greatly appreciate your keeping an eye on me though!

Update on Evening of 2/27

Sorry I was MIA yesterday, Diary! I was working out of our office yesterday at another location and just did not have any time to post.

Wednesday night went just fine. I ate what I planned for and did the second installment of Couch to 5K. It went okay. It's not getting any easier, but it is only the 2nd workout, so I can't expect myself to run like the wind just yet. I must say though, I have horrible running form, and I don't know how to correct it. I feel like I'm all over the place. I run on a treadmill, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. Hopefully, it will get better with time.

I hit the sack at 8AM Wednesday night cause I had to get up early yesterday morning, so there's really nothing else to report for Wednesday night.

Thursday 2/28 Diary Entry

It feels weird making this diary entry a day late, but I want to keep up with my current diary entry format.

I worked out of the office yesterday, so I had no time to post. I work as a trucking dispatcher, and part of what I dispatch is feed trucks that haul feed to farms in our area. Yesterday, I had the distinct pleasure of touring the feed mill and riding with one of our drivers to make farm deliveries. I'm a total "indoor girl" so I was WAY out of my element. Plus, it was freezing! It was only 18 degrees (and windy as heck) yesterday and I had to stand out in it for quite some time.

A note of weight loss victory: I still looked skinny yesterday, even with two layers of clothes on!! Go me!!

I did get in a little exercise in my plant tour than I usually get on an average work day - we walked all through the plant and up and down quite a few stairs. Plus I had to crawl up and down to get in and out of the tractor-trailer a few times.

I had a brief moment of panic yesterday when they told me we were ordering lunch in from a pizza place, but thankfully, they had salads on the menu, so I was good to go!

Until I got home last night, I was exhausted from being out in the cold, so no exercise for me. I had exercised every day Sat through Wed, so a day off was a nice break. My Mom and Dad took DH and I out to dinner at Applebee's which was nice, so last night was this week's "cheat night." I'll post my menu for the day directly.

Almost forgot - I was down to 167.6 yesterday! Another NEW all-time low!

Friday 2/29 Diary Entry

Happy Leap Year everyone!

It's so nice to be back in the office with computer access again! Today is another frigid day from hell (8 degrees this morning), but hey, things are looking up and its supposed to be in the fifties on Monday! And it's FRIDAY - so how can I not be happy!

Ughh - last night's cheat night is haunting my belly this morning. I wasn't feeling too good on the way home last night, nor did I feel good trying to fall asleep. And now this morning, I just feel queasy. My weight only went up one lb which seems to be the norm for me the morning after a cheat night. Hopefully, by Sunday, my "official" weekly WI day, that 1 lb (or more) will be gone.

I was so freaking stoked to see 167.6 on the scale yesterday morning. 166.6 will be the 20 lb mark for me. So close...can't wait to get there! Two lbs to go....

I had sad news to report (kinda). My most favorite, most wonderful, most comfortable jeans are now too big - so sad. I have dump butt (that wonderful, saggy butt we get when our pants are too big and it looks like we're carrying a load in them), SO I guess it's time to retire these babies. I wore them one last time today to let them know I still love them, but I think it's now time to move on.

Well, back to work I go - menu & exercise plan coming shortly...
