Hey Everybody!
I'm back!
Back in black!
At least until I lose the rest of my weight.
So here's my deal. I began a diary on January 1st 2005. I weighed 240 pounds. From January until mid September I worked very hard to stick to a 1,200 diet and I exercised 3-4 days a week, on the elliptical and bike riding mostly. By August I had lost 60 pounds! But then I had a bad gallbladder attack and had to have my gallbladder removed. After the surgery I dropped another 10 pounds, give or take a few, but I lost my will to exercise and since I could suddenly eat foods that had been making me sick, due to my sick gallbladder, I slowly began allowing myself more cheats. Then I got a boyfriend, who in the beginning took me out to eat a lot. Between the surgery, my boyfriend, and the holidays I packed on ten pounds. A dieter's nightmare! I've ignored my diet buddies and I'm very disappointed in myself, however, I'm ready to be back in action.
I am 22 years old and a vegetarian. I've been a veg for 10 years and I'm very used to eating vegetarian. I'm a full time college student and I have a full time office job, so I'm always very busy, but I'm also very determined to meet my goal! I currently weigh 180 pounds.
-- How much weight do you want to lose? I would like to lose 40 pounds.
-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? Realistically I believe I can lose 40 pounds in six months.
-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? I will follow my low calorie regimen (1,200-1,500 cals a day) along with walking and light jogging, and when the weather warms up, swimming! When I have my endurance back up I'll do my best to make it to the gym for dates with the elliptical.
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? I'm my best support system. I just bought an mp3 player to help me do my exercise and I make sure to give myself non-food rewards when I reach small goals. My best friend is also very supportive, even though she's a tiny 120 pounds herself. She is careful not to tempt me with foods and she has stomach problems of her own, so she has to limit her own eating habits.
-- How realistic is your goal? I lost 60 pounds in 8 months, so I think 40 in six is very doable.
-- When will you start? NOW!
The bingeing I did in the past few weeks scared the hell out of me. I reverted back into old disgusting habits--literally, eating breakfast and then having some potato chips, followed by ice cream, or candy. Fried foods--ugh, I ate fried foods every day, when in reality I should never EVER have them, not just because of the calories, but because I don't have a gallbladder to break them down! I felt like throwing up after every fattening thing I ate. And I would just eat more! UGH! It is such a horrible vicious cycle. But I've done it once and I can do it again.
