ive got 11 weeks!!!

Hi i'm new to this fitness site... I am going away in 11 weeks on holiday and want too improve my physique before i hit the beach and also lose a bit of weight... I quit smoking 2 years ago and since then have steadily been putting weight on and with my holiday coming up I thought it was about time I did something about it... Now I haven't put weight on everywhere its mainly my stomach which needs reducing the rest of me needs toning up and I want to sort out my general fitness... Right enough of that first of all where do I start ?? What diet should I eat and what forms of exercise should I do??? I was planning on going too the gym 2/3 times a week.. When there should I concentrate on weights or mainly cardio and also is this enough time to do any real damage to my physique as 11 weeks aint a lot of time... any help would be appreciated... As I said I am a complete novice at this

You might want to set your sights a bit longer term than just your holiday... If you don't, more likely than not that 11 weeks of hard work will be thrown away when you're on holiday and shortly thereafter. I've found that weight training 3x a week (full body routine) and cardio 2-3x a week has helped me lose weight and get into better shape.

I am aiming to do this long term but I thought the idea of doing it for my holiday would help get me into this lifestyle and give me something to aim for... Then once you look better you also dont want to go back to your old routine.. What about diet? What requirments would you recommend I start eating/drinking???

Cant the velocity diet get sort of unhealthy as it relates to the caloric content (seriously too low)? Or am I missing something on this technique? Can one educate me. Im curious. It seems to suggest to find the current clean eating habits, and then cut this amount in half, and then cut this amount in half again in a certain amount of time.

I know he's looking to lose quite abit in 11 weeks, and if the body is accustomed to eating high calorie before a diet (or hasnt been on one), I think its safe to assume, with an----adequate drop in calories (or adequate deficit drop), he would lose weight successfully the first few weeks in this type of environment. (with proper thyroid function, etc)
