I've gained over 100 pounds...

In the past 4 years I've gained over 100 pounds. I had weighed almost 200 at one point, then I dropped to 153 in a year. That was 4 years ago, and now I'm at 265. I think I have a serious addiction to food and I can't seem to stop eating. I'm not sure what I can do... I found that as time goes on, I get lazier and lazier. I remember one diet that worked for me was a low calorie diet, with one bad day a week, but when I try that now, I can't seem to stay on it. I tried low carb, that didn't work for me either. Fortunately my cholesterol is good, but my blood pressure is high (never was when I wasn't overweight.)

My husband tries to support me when I'm on a diet, but he can only take so much. Apparently, I get moody when I don't eat what I want. I can't do that to him or put my weight loss on his shoulders. I need to be able to have my own drive to do this. I don't feel beautiful anymore even though my hubby always tells me I am. I look back at when I weighed 153 and I see someone who doesn't exist anymore; a beautiful girl who was confident.

Anyway, I guess I just need support. I know this is a long post, and I apologize. I'm really going to try to make my meal portions smaller and see how that goes. I guess I realized I need some sort of support and I figured a forum would help. Maybe it'll help keep me on track. If anyone has any tips on what I can do to make myself more active, or to help me eat less, please let me know. Any advice is really appreciated. Lord knows I need it.

Thanks all.

You might look into the kimkins.com diet. I am on it and the food cravings do go away after 3 or 4 days. It does cost to join so go to the site and see what you think. I think I can download enough of it to get you started and help with any questions. It has taken a lot of weight off me in a short time and evened out my temperment. Who knows.

Hmmm... It actually sounds very interesting. I looked at their sample menu and it seems good. Unfortunately, I just can't afford it. It sounds like a basic low carb diet though. What makes it different? Thanks for your help!

I was nearing that.

Before Katrina, I was around 170.

I got up to 250 a few weeks ago until I realized I needed to lose weight.

In cutting calories, it doesn't have to be so restrictive that you get snappy and mad at everybody. Your maintenance level is pretty high right now. You could eat about 2500 a day, and still lose a pound or two a week, especially if you start walking everyday, or something. Start small, and build some good habits.

I've tried the low carb diet and I know what you mean. It works ok, but when you cut out the things you like (chips, bread, pasta) you body is going to say.......WHOA.....wait a minute......

I am currently on weight watchers and am able to eat anything I want in moderation. No food is sin as long as you have enough points to cover it. I have to calculate my points to make sure that I'm not going over, or eating something that will shoot them out of the water. I love chips, the solution..........I buy the 100 calorie pack doritos and sunchips, it takes care of the cravings. I love soda.........the solution...........drink 1 soda a week, the rest of the week, I am drinking lots and lots of water (with flavor packs of course). So far on weight watchers in 1 month, I have lost 22lbs. Over the span of almost a year I have lost 60lbs, but I have a long ways to go.

Just keep up the good fight, find a diet that you like and can have all of your favorite things. Don't exclude anything...........that's were the trouble comes in for all of us. If we can't have something, our bodies are going to crave, crave, crave it until we go on a bing................(been there done that). Remember to excerise, not matter if it is only for 15 minutes per day for the first week. You will see a dramatic improvement in the way you feel and your BP will drop. I went from 150/100 to 123/88 in a matter of months.

If anyone who reads this wants more information about the weight watchers diet and how to calculate your food, PM me and I will be glad to help. I have learned a lot from being in the program.

Good luck and always believe in yourself.
