It's about time I finally did something for myself

Hello everyone!

My name is Madison. I am a college Senior with TERRIBLE food discipline. I have creeped from 118 lbs (when I graduated high school) to 160lbs. Sounds like the freshman 40 to me... heh.. Anyway, I'm ready to change. Really and truly. I've toyed around with dieting in the past, but I always seem to forget my goals when I am around good "food." This time is different. I have gone the entire week eating nothing but healthy foods. I want the body and confidence I used to have. But I know the only way to do it is to have someone, ANYONE, willing to keep me on track. Anyone have any tips? Want to be friends? Want to tell me what an idiot I am for gaining 40lbs? Please do. I need it!

Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Madison

Hi Madison if you use the Diary section of this site you can record your daily, weekly goals, successes etc and people will naturally add their comments and words of encouragement - that's what I have found works.

Talking to other people I have found that unless you have a target you have nothing to aim for.

What works for me is having a singular main goal and goals that I can hit on a weekly or even daily basis that I can look forward to on my journey.

My target when I started was to get down to 176 Lbs (80Kg) not 175 Lbs, not 177 Lbs and sometimes I see people say they want to lose 2-3 Stone - which is it?

My advice is

1. Mark in a calendar your weight today.
2. Pick the exact weight you want to get down to.
3. Choose a reasonable date you want to lose the weight by. (Can be a holiday, a birthday or anniversary - something you look forward to and want to celebrate)
4. Do something every day towards reaching that goal - however small
5. Tell people every time you reach a milestone in your goal - lost a pound, lost a kilo, dropped a BMI point etc.
6. Most of all do what suits you and what you enjoy - no point in being miserable while you're losing weight
