People had it really good during Clinton for 8 years and the first 4 years of Bush so the idea that things are tough and there is all this stress is bull. People have it too damn easy. lets say 3% of people have emotional abuse issues. Where is the proof and data that shows it makes them fat? Add to that the fact that 3% of American are not fat. It is 70%. Are you suggesting that 70% of Americans have been abused. I know that women like to use that excuse but there are more fat men than there are fat women so that shoot that pathetic excuse down.
Counseling? Forums? Jenny Craig? Atkins? Medifast? Diet pills? Dr Phil? None of it is working. The diet failure rate is 98%. Are diets flawed? I think not. Atkins is horrible but you will lose weight on it if you do it and don't mind being sick.
Diets fail for one reason. Dieters won't stay on them. Why do you suppose that is?
The world has not changed all that much. The notion that stress turns people into gluttons is absurd. How is it that a person can have a 30" waist in high school and in 10 years add 10 inches to it and do nothing but buy larger pants? Then they get the talk from the doctor and they still do nothing. Why is that if it is not plain old simple gluttony?
Yanno, not everyone is abused. I said that SOME people are and SOME turn to eating because of their own psychological issues.
You're also an extremely arragont person, you refuse, down right REFUSE to believe that there are other links to weight gain besides eating. Yes, eating makes people fat. But WHY are people overeating? Has it ever once occured to you that society, own personal issues, medical issues, they all play a part. Unless someone conciously sits down and says "I'm going to work on getting fat today", most people who eat to obesity are people who either A) think it wont hurt them B) don't care C) don't realize just how much they are gaining or D) think they'll lose it no problem.
Diets fail because people set unrealistic standards. Changing your entire lifestyle isn't a diet, it's changing your life to better yourself. There are MANY people who lose the weight, change their lives, and never gain it back. Yet you want to fault them too.
You want to fault everyone. You fail to realize that people, many people, are on a life long hunt to lose weight. It's MUCH easier to gain it, then it is to lose it. YOU want to rag on the obese while failing to awknowledge that many are trying to do something about it.
Counseling DOES help people.
Forums CAN help people.
Jenny Craig is a failure.
Atkins is a failure.
People learn by trial and error.
Talking out your issues can help.
Paying money to someone who claims they can help you is a crock of shit.
But YOU wanna group everyone into one lump.
Open your eyes and get it through your head that not everyone is the same.
Not every fat person is fat for one specific reason.
I'm NOT saying that people are blaiming other issues on their weight,
EATING DOES CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN.
My point is,
Many people eat because of other issues
SOMETHING makes people eat,
SOMETHING makes people turn to food,
Sure some people are addicted to food,
but at the same time, not everyone is, and therefore, there has to be a reason they overeat, beyond the convience of high fat foods.
