i eat between 1200- 1500 cals a day

however i filled out a diet prof online and this came up

It says i should be eating around 1800 cals a day as im so big , by eating between 1200- 1500 cals am i pushing my body into starvation mode?

when i go to the gym (3-4 times a week) i try to burn between 200- 400 cals

Starvation mode doesn't turn on and off like a switch. It's an adaptive process of the body associated with dieting at any caloric deficit. Do some searching around the forum.

However, you're right.... the bigger you are, the more you can and probably should eat.

A good recommendation would be to eat as many calories as you can while still having a sufficient deficit to trigger fat loss.

I would actually suggest reading all of the stickies. This is all explained in detail.

This comment sparks an "ORLY?".

But I agree. I had been losing weight steadily eating 2100 calories a day, and exercising, and I could have stood to eat more at 260lbs.

Then I got lazy, sprained my ankle, and quit :3.

But the point being, it worked while I was trying.

Best advice i got from here was to up my cals. Was at 1000- 1300 per day and was feeling CRAPPY! Once i upped the cals to 1600-1800 i kept losing weight but didnt feel so deprived or tired. I could eat a few more without doing too much damage!

Its much easier for me to manage this week and thus far i havnt had my usual 'ah to hell with it all' moment!

Good luck! :seeya:
