Is this on the right track?

Hi All :D
I posted this in newbies section, but didn't really get much of a response. Sorry for duplicating it but I really would like to know!

Im new to this, and my question is basically is what Im doing and eating balanced right for a bit of weight loss?

Current weight: 71kg
Goal weight: 65(ish)

Exercise:
Mon: 7km brisk walk inc. 1-3 kms slow jogging (trying to build it up)
Tues: 3-4km brisk walk inc. 2kms slow jogging
1 hr pilates
Wed:1.5km swim
Thurs:7km brisk walk inc. 1-3 kms slow jogging (trying to build it up)
1 hr pilates
Fri: 3-4km brisk walk inc. 2kms slow jogging
Sat: 1hr pilates
Sun: Nothing.

Always stretch for about 1/2 hr after each workout.
Plus theres a bit of messing around with horses, moving wood, gardening, general outdoor stuff like that.

Food:
Brekkie: bowl of Just Right cereal and a peice of fruit or (rarely) toast
Morning tea: herbal or regular tea
Lunch: ussually something like a turkey and salad sandwich on wholemeal, salad or leftovers from last nights dinner. Ussually also have some fruit (love my fruit!)
avo tea: milo!
Dinner: Could be anything! but ussually fairly healthy (I think) I make everything from scratch and we live out of town so never have takeaway. Things like: honeysoy chicken, steak and vege, tuna mornay, vege lasagna, etc Theres always good quality meat and vege, sometimes rice and pasta.

If I'm still hungy I'll snack on fruit or cheese.
During the day ussually also have about 4-5 big glasses of water

Wow that's weird writing it all out for all to see
So what do you think, Balanced Right?

Looks pretty good to me! I might add a little protein at breakfast and add a couple of snacks between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner to go with your tea. It's good for the metabolism to eat about 5 or 6 times a day. I would also add some weight training although depending on what type of pilates you go to I know it works the entire body pretty hard so that may be just as good as weight training. My pilates class is killer on the core and upper body especially.

I think you're off to a great start :)

Thanks!
I'm actually really glad to hear its ok to snack a little more. morning and avo tea I am pretty hungry. Brought some yohgurt today :D

The pilates is just basic while I get the hang of it. I can do all the moves but dang it kills. When it starts getting 'easy' Ill upgrade the vid.

Thanks again

If you find that, when you start adding snacks, that you're full all day, start making each meal smaller. You should never be starving but you don't want to be *FULL* all day either. If you eat 5 meals a day you should probably get an average of 300 calories at each meal.

Are you only working out at home? You don't go to a gym? If so, you can also get some exercise bands and start some weight training too (. When you build muscle it burns more calories throughout the day. Each pound of muscle you have burns up to 9 times as much as a pound of fat. :)

OH has weights. When I ask he's happy to give me a 'girls session' (long and low intensity) and then proceeds to show off how much he can move
I just need to find the time to do it with some kind of consistency.
Thanks heaps for your advice :)

Any idea how long it might take to reach my goal weight if I keep it up?

No...since everyone's different I can't really tell you how quickly you can lose the weight. It's not that much though, right? 1 kg is 2.2 lbs so it's about 13 pounds you want to lose?

By the way, you should lift "high intensity" too! Lift a weight where you can't do more than 12 reps or any exercise...make sure to incorporate both upper and lower body. Women (myself included until I figured out what I was doing :)) tend to want to lift lower body more because they worry about "bulking" up. You won't though!!

Also, I say this ALL the time but try not to worry too much about weight and more about how your clothes fit and how you feel/look. When you start to build muscle mass you may not lose weight as fast as you want to but you'll still be *smaller*...does that make sense?

Thanks so much for all the help :) Its been really good.

Btw I don't even own scales  I only know how much I weigh when I take the dogs in for their shots - sneak on the vets scales after them :D

Thanks again :)
