is this normal?

have now been exercising 3 times a week for a little over an hour each time, for a month now ... but the past few weeks i have this urge to do more ... like right now, i am sitting at work .. but i just have this feeling that i want to go and exercise again (treadmill and machines)

is this normal? ... hah ! ... should i try to break my workout to where i am doing upper one day and lower another? ... (right now doing everything each day i am there, then taking a day off, then a second day off each week)

or should i just consider some sort of cardio on the off days? ... not sure if that will quench what my body seems to want to do though...

i am still recently new to all of this lifestyle .. and still reading and learning. so i am just seeking advice on this situation and to find out if it is normal or what...
 
if you are wanting it of course its normal, by all means go do some more!

Just make sure you have a day off once a week, otherwise feel free to do more, you can split it into arms, legs, core, etc. Then throw in 20 mins before and after of cardio.
 
What's your primary goal?

my primary goal is to get into shape and feel better about myself ... either through the loss of weight, or converting the fat i have over into muscle but still weighing the same ...

not sure if that qualifies as a goal ... since i just think of it as more of a lifestyle change then anything else ...

yes i am wanting it, never felt this way before ... but i actually feel better overall ... and i guess i just want that to keep going ...

once summertime hits i may see about doing 6 days a week and alternating out each day what i work on ... for now, tho (working 6 days a week) may just have to get my bike back out and do a few miles on it each morning before i get ready for work ...

right now, when i do finish a workout ... i just have a feeling like i can keep going, but i don't ... dont wish to hurt anything by doing to much in one day ...
 
just make sure if you want to loose weight to keep the cardio up and make sure you eat properly (no stupidly low calories or only carbs)

i am in the process of getting my calorie intake up ... once i started monitoring it .. i was barely eating 1100 a day ... i am now up to about 1700 average ... and need to get a little bit higher (if i figured it out right) ...

at the end of the day my calories are split about 30% between fat/carb/protein

Also, I wouldn't do much more than 4 sessions of weights per week. If you are going to do 4 sessions, I'd do something like 2 upper and 2 lower sessions.... alternating between the two.

This coupled with cardio should be enough.

Remember, too much of anything isn't a good thing. Assuming you aren't working at extreme intensities, especially in relation to your cardio, you'd probably have a hard time over doing things. But it's still important to keep recovery, rest, and repair in mind when constructing a program.

my weight loss has continued, but it is slowing down some since i have started increasing my calories ... (trying to go up a bit each week)

in the last week i lost 4 pounds (well a little over 3.5)

i may see about spreading out what i am doing a bit .. just to give my body what it seems to want .. but not overdo it ...

no i am not working at extremes that is for sure ... mostly right now just making sure my 'baseline' is set on all the equipment ... and haven't started building up from there yet ...

Congrats on losing 4 pounds in a week!
I agree with Steve in that recovery is a huge part of altering your body composition. Be sure you are sleeping at least 7 hours a night. Vitamin C (1000mg) before and after your workout helps too.

i sleep when i can during this time of the year... normally get 6+ hours tho ...

i currently do not take any kind of vitamins...

its good to hear that you are doing well with your goal to stay in shape...with your exercise routine.

It shows that it's possible to achieve anything, if we put our mind and body to it..

keep it up, and let your story inspire others :)
