Hello,

I am a 25 year old male. I am 6ft and my weight is 190lbs. However, Until 2 months ago, I weighed 164lbs. Which was my normal weight for most of my adult life. I guess you could say that I was thin.

I gained the weight whilst on a 5 week cruise where all the food and drink was included. And as a result, I put on some weight. My friend also gained a similar amount of weight. However, whilst my friend (who is male) noticed that his waist size increased by around 3-4 inches, my waist increased by just 1 inch. Where I did gain a alot of weight strangely was on my legs and bum. In fact, my upper thigh changes from being 21 inches to 25.5 inches. My bum size is now 43 inches when before it was about 38 inches. And to my friends ammusement, no change in his thigh or bum size has occured.

This is the first time in my life that I have ever gained any weight. And was wondering if this amount of increase was normal?

for 5 weeks cruise food, yes it sounds normal to me! you guys must have really feasted and enjoyed yourselves! as far as where the inches went, i would guess that depends on your genetic makeup/hormones. if your really uncomfortable with it maybe have your thyroid checked just to be sure. (if you think you gained too fast) welcome to the forum!

I think the speed at which I gained was normal since we did over indulge. What I wasn't sure about was where I gained it. My waist it just 32 inches while my bum is 42". A big difference.

Like wonderwoman said, it could be your genetic makeup.... the majority of my weight is in my thighs and a$$, and I get that from my moms side of the family.
