Is this a good HIIT plan?

Hi, I'm Emily and I am new here. I've been reading up on HIIT, and hopefully I have understood it enough to create the following routine for myself. Please feel free to critique! I'm all ears. :D

Monday, Wed, Friday

*warm up walk 5 mins at 4.2mph

*Hiit- 45 seconds at 6.5 mph, then 15 seconds of 8.5 to 9.0 mph., repeat 20 times

*Cool down 5 mins at 4.2 mph walk

Tues and Thursday I do longer runs, like 45 minutes, not HIIT.

Does this sound ok?

I am 5'5'' female, 25 years old, 124 lbs, want to reduce body fat and weight, and currently weight training 5 days a week, have been for about a year and a half. Thanks!--Emily

Hey,

In my opinion from your height and weight you don't need to lose any more weight. I'm sure you look great as it is. But anyhow I don't think you need to do HIT 3 times a week. If you can do it twice a week at a faster pace. for your age this should be ok and you will avoid burntout.

Maybe do hitt twice a week and on another day do a 10 min jog....Does the pace you run at make you out of breath?

I currently do hitt only once a week and it completely wears me out, not to mention my joints. Think about it. You can see my workout schedule....

Hope my advice helps you

The only thing is that a HIIT session should last you about 20-30 minutes at the longest. So, I'd say that if you were able to go 45 minutes at that intensity, it would be time to bump up the intensity.

Bump up your 15 seconds of 9 to 30 seconds of 9.

People...we are really abusing the term "HIIT".

Walking, in my opinion is not "High Intensity". What you are doing is simply INTERVAL Training!

Didn't see the need to post a new thread, so maybe y'all can tell me if Im doing my "HIIT" correctly. I do this three times a week.

1 incline

5 min - 4mph (Warmup)

1 min - 4.2mph
1 min - 10mph

Then I repeat these two until the treadmill reads 30 minutes, usually takes me around 3.5 miles. Is this HIIT, or should I be jogging and sprinting rather than walking and sprinting?
