Is there something wrong with my weight loss program?

Hi everyone,

I am kind of looking for advice or even some thoughts. I have been wanting to lose weight for such a long time and I eat very healthy. I am vegetarian, I rarely eat junk food or drink alcohol and I'm extremely conscious of what I eat. For the past two months I have been working out almost every single day. I run at least 2 miles a day (sometimes more if I have the energy) and I go to a 45min-1hour pilates class three times a week. I have noticed that doing the exercises have been getting easier as time goes on and it hurts a little less each day. When I initially started doing this and taking it very seriously I lost 6 pounds. In the past two weeks I have not changed much, besides maybe snacking here and there because for some reason I thought it was okay because I was under the impression my metabolism was speeding up and taking in these extra calories (wheat thins, pretzels, popcorn, trailmix, dried fruit) would be acceptable. In these past two weeks I regained 3 pounds and I'm getting extremely frustrated with myself. I work so hard but see minimal results. I just feel like I am doing something wrong...help?

You are eating too much. Write what you eat in a typical day with the AMOUNT you eat.

Your weight/age/activity levels would be good too.

AFirstly, it is possible to over eat healthy food, things like dried fruit are not only high in calories but also high GI which is not good for blood sugar levels.

As far as exercise goes the body get more efficient as it gets used to your level of exercise, keeping exercise levels the same but increasing food intake = weight gain. You are also doing mostly cardio with nothing really weight bearing to maintain muscle mass, I don't see any strength training in your routine.

Also remember at the start of a new diet/exercise plan you will often have a big drop on the scale due to loosing water weight rather than fat.

Without more information most members of the forum will not be able to offer much help.

Because muscle weighs more than fat, you can be building muscle and actually gain weight. You might want to take your measurements as well as step on the scale. Is your goal to lose weight or to look and feel better? Remember, as you choose what to eat, that "good" carbs give you energy and protein burns fat.

Hi,
As you was doing very much exercise and doing dieting also your body was showing good response but as you have start eating dry fruits and all it get abstract by your body very fast. dry fruits contain high amount of protein and calories. So I think you should avoid these until you achieve your goal.:lurk5:

It can be that your diet is not calorie low enough, and you are losing what you are gaining. Also you have to see if you are a skinny person you have to see if that is your healthy weight for that I recommend to see that article about that (REMOVED)

Your metabolism may be speeding up, but remember it is important to keep track of everything you are eating. Even healthy foods will add up your total caloric intake and can still lead to weight gain! As mentioned above, you could be gaining muscle and that may be contributing to your weight gain! Stay strong!
