Is there any food that you refuse to give up?

I am a believer that you can have anything in moderation as long as you choose the right foods most of the time. For example I still love my pepsi, however I only drink on occasion. I do avoid trans fats and watch the saturated fats, however one thing I haven't given up is the half and half in my morning coffee. I have tried using skim mlk and even 2% milk but it just isn't the same. What are your favorite foods that you have to have almost daily?

Pizza, I don't care if it's smart ones, healthy choice, homespun, dominos or whatever. I will eat in moderation if I need to. I just love pizza to much to give it up.

Cheese - ya'll can have your sweets and your salty things - i looooove cheese... but good cheeses - not the processed velveeta or the overly salty american slices.. real good aged irish cheddar or some other delectable tidbit... especially fresh mozzarella (one of the things i miss m ost about new jersey)

I don't have it daily but every other day I will - and as soon as I buy it will portion it out and i'm set for the week...

I love me some cheese :)

I was going with the low fat babybels for a while but they just don't satisfy the way real cheese does

mmmm....cheese.....I eat quite a bit of cheese myself and couldn't live without it. Thankfully it is filling so that I consider it part of my diet.

The food that I must have but need to be really careful about is peanut butter. 190 calories for 2 tbsp. Yikes. But I love it so much. Since I don't want to waste more calories on bread I usually just eat a spoonful of peanut butter and try to keep it to 1 tbsp.

I just couldn't do those 'low carb' diets, I like my bread and pasta too much! But as you say, everything in moderation .

Chocolate. Ooooomg, if I had to give up chocolate, you may as well move me away from society. I have to be very careful though, because I love the milk chocolate kind best, so I buy those miniatures and have one or two at the end of the day,

Sugar in my coffee. I can eat many a food and drink with Splenda in it and not mind, but it is absolutely disgusting in my coffee. I need it- just one cup-but I need it, and, I deserve a reward for getting up in the morning!

Also butter. Not one of the everyday foods as stated in the original post, but if I'm eating something that really should have butter, I'm going to have butter. Margarine is just as bad for you anyway, and I can't deal with too much of the fake flavored stuff to help me pretend I'm eating butter. There is no substitute for this, IMHO! Of course, to reiterate, I RARELY consume any butter! :)

PS-Judyt: I would have said half and half for my coffee too but I switched to non-fat half and half and it was very easy to get used to (for me) and it too is so much better vs. milk (in part because it's thicker like cream). Have you tried it?

With much kicking and screaming I've given up most foods that used to be th staples of my diet...but NOT my morning cappuccino...I spent about two months trying every substitution known to man...and nothing was close enough satisfy me.

I also haven't given up sugar in my morning coffee. I don't know if eggs count, but we eat eggs for breakfast several times per week, and not just the white but the whole thing. I do not cook eggs with grease or oil, just pam. I'm not really sure that eggs are really bad for us, but they really get the whole family going for the day.

Chocolate
Beer

I am sure there are things I am forgetting.

think thats about it.. been able to cut most out..

amen on the Chick-fil-a. I wouldn't be able to give up the Chick.

i must also have butter on my veggies. One of my favorite meals is a bowl full of lima beans but fake butter just doesn't cut it. They have to be practically swimming in real, delicious butter.

What the hell is chick-fil-a? That sounds disgusting!

I didn't give up anything, and I think there is no need to give up anything, all in moderation! I just learned to control myself, and I think this will ultimately be more useful to me in terms of keeping the weight off.
