Is My Plan Too "Soft"?

I'm currently 5 ft 6 in, 185lb female of seventeen years old.

I want to lose weight this summer, want to get to a healthy weight (140~150) and hopefully continue being healthy afterwards. :)

It's been less than a week since I (re)started, and wanted to know if my exercise plan was too "soft"; I am repetitively told that if you exercise only a certain amount, it can actually make you gain weight because it just makes you hungry.

So here it is:

- 20 minute run on the treadmill (I usually get 1.5-1.6 miles for now; I sweat a LOT. I plan on doing this everyday if possible, but so far committed to every other day)
- Dance practice (It comes down to only about 20 minutes, but I do this daily and I do sweat.)
- Haidong gumdo (It's a Korean martial art using swords. I teach it one day a week, I do it one day a week. An hour each. On the day I do it myself it's pretty rough, and when I teach it I also try to do some myself. On days we don't have it, if I practice it I would count it as an exercise.)

And I guess some sit-ups and things if I'm feeling extra guilty. Haha...

Now that I wrote it it really doesn't seem like a lot...but compared to how inactive I was during the spring semester...haha.

Suggestions will always be welcome! :)

Sounds like a normal every day life to me, not overly soft or hard. Thats the right balence in my book.
Overdoing it leads to burn out :)

Honestly it sounds really good. :)

The thing that will make the most difference in your weight, to be honest, is what you EAT. You can workout like crazy, but if you eat badly and eat too much, the exercise won't make a whole lot of difference.

What does your diet look like right now? Are you eating a reasonable amount of calories (not to0 many, but not too few)? Are you making sure to get in a good amount of protein? Are you eating lots of veggies? Do you eat whole grains rather than processed starches?

THAT will help you in the weight loss part. The exercise will help you look good during and after you lose the weight. They go hand in hand, really ... but diet is most important!

Thanks, guys! :D

Yes, the diet...I really have to control it better :( No easy way around it!

I really, really want to look good...I am transferring to a new university across the country in fall, and don't want to be in the fat category when I go. Chubby category, I'm willing to settle for, but not fat. xP
