I will mention the fundamental proclaim of milk lovers and will share my opinion about either milk is a healthy option or not.

  1. Does Milk help in weight loss: The data available through research that p the milk production,.people who drink dairy products are more prone to lose their belly fats and overall weight is managed well. The same results are common to other foods that are rich in Calcium.
  2. Does Milk build muscles: Absolutely, YES. Milk has 20 % of protein and among the protein, 80 % of protein is of highest bio available form, that is Casein. Casein is the readily absorb able form of protein and has the highest bio-availability for a human body. In this way milk keeps the metabolism well boosted and also helps in building muscles mass.
  3. Does hormonal injections in Cattle make milk unhealthy: This is more valid argument to discuss. In 1993, the FDA approved the bovine hormone for Cattle injections to increase the Milk production. The FDA approval is a testimony for milk healthy benefits. In addition, multiple studies have proven that hormone injections will not effect the healthy benefits of milk, unless directly injected into milk.
  4. Milk from cattle with antibiotics; Cattle may get the antibiotics for their own health issue and one claim is that such milk will produce antibiotic resistance in human beings. Its fairly sound argument. The reply is that not all cattle are exposed to antibiotics and the milk from antibiotic free cattle are also labelled for availability.
  5. Skim or whole milk; Both are the healthy options, but whole milk have slightly higher boosting impacts on blood cholesterol levels than skim one.

Milk Can Help You Lose Weight. The theory: Calcium helps the body break down fat more efficiently, stimulating weight loss. The reality: Dairy doesn't appear to have magic properties. A few studies from the mid-2000s concluded that dieters who consumed dairy lost more weight than dieters who did not.

Dairy products are bad for you. It is proven that a vegan diet with exercise will help you lose weight the fastest way. There are certain foods that are known to speed up weight loss such as Avocado, but a combination of vegetables, lots of water and 30 mins walking or jogging every day is the way to speed up your metabolism. Eating meat is also something that will slow down your metabolism, takes too long to digest and that speaks for itself.

It depends if you are a man or a woman. Women need calcium more than men because of boneloss which occurs during childbearing years.

Milk has plenty of good nutrients. However, skim milk does not so drink 2% milk or higher. In Canada our milk is fortified with Vitamin D and there are so many benefits to getting a good amount of Vitamin D.

There is nothing proven about a vegan diet, it is a choice, but that does not make it the fastest or even the best.

Interestingly there's now several medical trials for giving breastmilk to adults with immunity problems and there's been some good results.

I once found a nice article where supporters and opponents expressed their opinion on milk

Milk is poorly tolerated by adults?
Advocates of drinking milk: Today, most people, especially from northern and central Europe, can drink milk throughout their lives (in Sweden - 100% of the population, 95% in the UK). We have acquired the ability to digest lactose on the path of evolution and throughout Europe, milk is not only indicated for 10% of adult citizens. These people, on the other hand, can eat cheese, yoghurts or products with a reduced lactose content.
Opponents: In most adults the production of lactase - the enteric enzyme responsible for the breakdown of milk sugar - lactose is stopped with age. As a result, drinking milk causes bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain.

Milk is harmful to women?
Supporters of drinking milk: A new American study conducted by scientists at Harvard University showed that pre-menopausal women who consume more calcium and vitamin D may be less likely (about 40%) exposed to breast cancer. A diet rich in calcium causes that in women over 45 years of age, there is less of a metabolic syndrome, which is characterized by such abnormalities as obesity, atherosclerosis or hypertension. Other studies show that a diet containing low-fat dairy products can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by up to 21% in women.
Opponents: The female body should be the source of milk itself. It is not adapted to take it in the form of food. Drinking milk badly affects the hormonal balance, which may contribute to the development of many diseases.

Milk raises cholesterol and causes overweight?
Supporters of drinking milk: Milk in milk contains conjugated dienes of linoleic acid. These substances have a strong antioxidant effect, counteract atherosclerosis and delay the development of cancer. Regarding the relationship between the consumption of dairy products and the high risk of cardiovascular disease - there is no unambiguous evidence for this. It is believed that milk may have the same cholesterol-increasing properties as butter. In contrast, some dairy products, especially fermented with specific strains of bacteria, have an effect on lowering cholesterol and pressure. Milk with a lower fat content supports its reduction without damaging muscle mass. Children should not drink skimmed milk. Fat is an important source of energy for the developing organism and provides saturated and unsaturated fatty acids necessary for proper brain development.
Opponents: The fat in milk is of animal origin. It should be avoided because it causes overweight and increased cholesterol. Drinking milk promotes atherosclerosis and heart disease. If someone can not give up a white drink - he should switch to skim milk.

Milk prevents bone fractures and osteoporosis?
Advocates of drinking milk: Consumption of milk and milk products is very important in the prevention of osteoporosis and prevention of bone fractures. The latest research carried out at the Medical University of Bialystok (Osteoporosis International 2007) shows the relationship between a diet devoid of milk and milk products, and the number of fractures in children and adolescents up to 20 years of age. They show that a group on a non-dairy diet is exposed to a 4-fold higher risk of fractures.
Opponents: Milk does not strengthen bones, it only weakens them. The protein contained in it rinses calcium out of the body. Osteoporosis is best prevented by eating calcium-rich foods that are not milk products.

When I was younger, my pediatrician used to say adults didn't need milk, and we really don't. Women do need calcium, and dairy is a good source of calcium. I think it really depends on whether or not you can tolerate milk.

One cup of whole milk contains 3.25 percent fat :
  • 146 calories
  • 8 grams of fat
  • 13 grams of carbohydrates
  • 8 grams of protein
which is good for bones.

Milk also contains potassium and magnesium. These minerals are important for healthy bones and teeth. Dairy provides almost 50 percent of the calcium in a typical diet. Most milk has added vitamin D. A glass of fortified milk contains almost 30 percent of the recommended daily amount.

Milk is good for health. Milk is the primary source of nutrition. Milk contains calcium, protein, vitamin, potassium and so on. It maintains bone mass. These minerals are important for healthy bones and teeth.

there is between 12 and 15 grams of sugar in one glass of milk. do not be fooled by it being called lactose. anything that ends in -ose is sugar which in your body eventually for the most part becomes glucose... the building block of fat. there are many other calcium alternatives... sugarless calcium alternatives.

I once found a nice article where supporters and opponents expressed their opinion on milk.

My opinion on milk is that you can get calcium and vitamin D from other things, so if you don't want to drink milk, don't. Milk is not the magical fix to weight loss. It's just a food item. Drink it in moderation.

I like milk. We use 1% mf in our coffee & tea, & for baking.
On the down side, I like it with oatmeal raisin cookies.
It's my decadent treat.

Hello,
That's quite a bit of fat – out of that, 5 grams are saturated fat which is not good for you. But you can get around the saturated fat by drinking low-fat or non-fat milk. That way, you're cutting down fat and calories while still getting all of the nutrients in milk.

I have mixed feelings on milk..personally I enjoy cold skim milk but my body doesn’t like very much of it..more than 12 oz at a time will make my stomach sick..it does have protein but a good chunk of sugar as well..I think it’s fine in moderation..I don’t think a lot of milk I’m your diet would have much benefit..

I don't think healthy grown adults need milk if they otherwise eat a healthy diet. I think some individuals don't tolerate milk as easily as others and if you want to lose weight giving up milk to see how it effects you is not a bad idea. I also think it effects the body about like a glass of sugar water. How bad that is for you varies but it is never good.
