Is it normal to feel like blacking out after running?

I posted a thread in the "running" section of this forum, but I didn't get any response, so I decided to make another thread here. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can give me some advice on this issue. Thanks.

I gained about 20 lbs in the past year, and I recently started running in hopes to shed some fat. I run at a moderate pace for about 10-15 min. I mean, I'm really out of shape, so it's hard running for that long, but it's bearable. It's just that when I stop after running for like 10-15 min, I feel the worst of it. I feel dizzy... nauseous... plus, my vision gets all blurry and dark... only when i drink a lot of water and lie down for a while does it go away.

Thinking I was just dehydrating, I drank two cups of water right before running, and the same thing happened! When I was younger, I used to run for like 30-40 min without ever feeling anything like this. Do you guys think there's something wrong? Am I pushing myself too hard? Is this normal?

you should really see a doctor so some one about this, cause it could be some thing more serious, cause you shouldnt get those symptoms unless your seriously dehydrated and i dont think 2 cups of water will do much, but i do reccommend getting it checked out.

It sounds like (don't quote me on this, Im not a doctor, although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night ;) ) that your oxygen intake capabilities are not sufficient enough to supply your body (brain in particular) with the proper amount of oxygen. Stop with the constant running and go intervals until you can build your max VO2 capacity up a bit.

Run for 1 minute, walk for one minute, over time, increase the intensity of the runs, or increase the run interval to 2 minutes and the rest interval to 1 minute.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

I tried running today during the evening, unlike in the mornings like I usually do, and I felt fine. I mean, I was panting and all, but I didn't feel like blacking out.

Isn't it optimal to run in the mornings to lose fat though? why would I feel like blacking out only in the morning? I might actually go see a doc or something about this.

Well you probably didn't eat anything before you ran and you didn't have any carbs or protein left from the night's sleep. Although it has worked for some people, running in mornings without eating seems a bit risky. Especially if you don't get the right nutrition before going to bed. The night before, be sure to get some casein proteins(found in milk/cottage cheese) and then try eating a small portion of carbohydrates and protein before you go running in the morning and see how you feel.

it doesnt really matter what time you run, people say running in to morning is better cause you dont have any food in your body so your body has to call on fat (computer nerd talk) for energy, but if you do enough cardio it will do that anyways, anything over 15 to 20 minutes rugular jogging with start burning fat stores, HIIT does it almost right away.

I used to get the same thing occuring. On a few occasions I became violently sick after almost passing out.

My doctor said I was experiencing hypoglycemic reactions after working out. He recommended drinking half a glass of grapefruit or orange juice directly after stretching post workout.

I am not saying your situation is the same but it may be of help to ask yourself similar questions. I hope it eases up for you...i know what its like ;)

Thanks y'all for the advice. BonnyLass, I think u r right about hypoglycemic reactions. I might try eating a light meal before I go running in the morning.

Oh yeah... I hear a lot of people eating cottage cheese these days... First of all, does that stuff taste good? does it taste like... plain ol' cheese? haha.

yeah, anyway, i was wondering if anyone could explain to me the benefits of eating cottage cheese. thanks, guys.

cottage cheese in my opinion tastes great, ive been trying adding things to it but i still like it plain, its not a real strong taste, some people say it tastes bland, i say its unique. as for the benefits its got casein protein in it, and when eating before bed can help prevent muscle catabolism.

Damn... in eleven days of disciplined eating and exercising... i lost just 3 lbs... if it's even that much... this is discouraging... i feel like quitting... shiat...

kwanny...stick with it man. Initial loses are slow. The first 5 lbs and the last 5 pounds can both be the hardest. 3 lbs in the first 11 days is a lot. Let you body adjust to the new lifestyle and you will see the losses build up shortly enough.

Thanks, guys. I needed the support.

But man... I look back now and wonder... why the hell did i gain this much weight in the first place... shiat...

Hey guys. Some of my friends bought some Turkey Jerky for me, saying that it's all healthy and everything. One piece supposedly has only 80 cal and 0.5 g fat, 7g carbs, and 12g of protein. It sounds healthy to me, and I'm thinking about incorporating into my diet. What do u guys think about it? Thanks.
