is it better to eat before or after workout?

I'm no expert, but it depends on your individual needs. I tend to eat something small 30 minutes to half an hour before (say, an apple), and something afterwards (a source of protein and sugar- for example, some nuts and a piece of fruit). That's because if I don't eat reasonably regularly I begin to feel dizzy and faint, and I work quite hard at the gym so the same applies after I've been to the gym. I've seen recommendations to have protein and sugar after the gym so maybe take that on board, otherwise (without breaking your diet) see how you feel and go with that. That's my thought on it, anyway.

I love your profile pic! You'll notice I have Vlad Kush as my ticker art! I found his gallery in Las Vegas and fell in love!

I agree with Amy. I usually eat a small snack before (to give me energy, but not enough to make me sick) and then usually opt for a high protein meal afterwards.

Amy-

Before exercising eat a banana maybe with some cereal. The potassium is great for your body as you exercise. Afterward eat a high-protein meal such as fish or chicken. (Tuna salad sandwich, chicken with 100% whole grain pasta, etc.)

I drink a whey protein shake after lifting for optimal muscle recovery.

Hope that helps!

I've already got something that works for me, thanks. (And I don't really like bananas or think protein shakes are necessary)
