It's true - you can't out run your fork and there's a lot of good information already posted above.
When I first lost 85 pounds, I started by watching what I ate, 25 pounds down, I started adding exercise. I was able to lose weight just watching my food intake but the two go hand in hand.
Now that it's been 10 years since my weight loss, new career, work travel, lack of exercise etc, etc, I have most of it to lose again and eating right just isn't working for me.
What exercise does for me, (besides the health benefits), is it reminds me to focus on what I eat and holds me accountable. I'm not going to go spend 40 minutes exercising then come home and eat crap. The working out makes me more mindful of what I eat.
