So as i introduced myself in the newbies section, I am a 21 year old female, who in her senior year of college has realized the toll the past 3 and a half years have taken on her weight. I am currently 5'6 at 170 lbs. I was 150 in high school and that is my target weight.
My potential time frame for losing 20 pounds is around 3 months or so...if I were to lose 2 pounds a week. Realisitically it will probably take a little longer than that, but we'll see!
My current diet is often changing. Normally during the week I'll eat pretty healthily: small meals of chicken, fish, frozen veggies and brown rice.
Then on the weekend is when I go bad. With the weekend comes the bars and partying. During football season, almost every saturday was filled with high calorie tailgating food and lotsa beer.
Then, the past two weeks i didn't drink much at all because of exams, but I ate horribly. Almost all my meals were ordered out..and I was constantly snacking while studying.
I've been on break this week for Thanksgiving, and lord did I eat at thanksgiving..I actually don't want to know the amount of calories i consumed haha. But my plan is that when I return to school this weekend, I start anew.
My goals are these:
I'm going to plan out my meals for the week..for the most part..so that I know that I am eating
When I go out to the bars (since I believe drinking is the biggest cause of my weight gain) I'm only going to drink alcohol one night of the week, as opposed to 2 or 3. On the other nights, if I do go out i'll just get a diet coke or water.
When i'm not out i'll try to drink only water, no more soda. I only drink diet anyways, but the sodium in even diet soda is not helping.
I haven't been to the gym in about a month. I do walk everywhere I go, and I take the stairs and all that good stuff...but I used to run about 3 miles a day and now I don't even know if i can haha. At the gym I go to there are plenty of yoga, kickboxing, aerobics, cycling and circuit training classes, so I plan on attending at least 3 of any of those per week, and one on the weekends. I also plan on starting a strength training routine for every other day..as well as making it to the gym between classes to do cardio everday.
I'll use this diary to keep track of what I do during the week. I have a feeling it's gonna be a big help!

Welcome to the forum!
that your time frame is do-able. You really will have to stick to your plan, though. It is soooo easy to eat too much junk! Likewise, I remember my own years doing the bar scene. I am a musician, and certainly made the rounds. That booze is truly wicked for packing on the pounds, among other things! You are young and having fun, but you are just the right age for deciding to live more healthfully! Be sure to exclude junk food from your fridge & cupboards, or go with portion controlled packs.
