Sooo...anyone else seen this? I think this might be real...

This oughta' stir up some conversation.

I don't think it's worth the effort, personally. And my limited understanding of biology leads me to believe that they're not actually fortifying their soft tissues, protecting them from blows - they're just physically/mentally desensitising themselves and gradually (or quickly) destroying things that don't grow back.

Although, some people do amazing things with focused energy - like bend pieces of rebar against their throats, or smash stacks of bricks with their foreheads. What do you think? Legitimate defense or quack "technique?"
 
I didn't click your link because my firefox sucks...but I am aware of what you're talking about. I think it's the same as head conditioning. Cool and probably useful, but detrimental to your overall health. I'd rather be kicked in the nuts and have me double over in pain occasionally than never have the chance to have children.

But it comes down to what your priorities are, I guess. If you're a monk anyways and not having any kids, have little education, and live to preserve the tradition and gongs passed down, why not? However...



He seems to have the "best" of both worlds, doesn't he?

And this technique is sometimes executed with the pelvis thrust forward, which kind of sucks the balls into the body, or so I've been told. But, the prime example of this technique I've seen is some old dude with his sac dangling there while someone attacks it.
 
i ve seen that before and there are lots of weird stuff out there, not to say it is baseless or ineffective.

but how many times are you going to loose a fight not protecting your nuts

not everybody is going to assault your nuts and even if you seek to eliminate the odds, the chances are you simply wont be prepared for it. besides there are more sensitive areas to protect like your eyes, neck etc.

your body has natural protective reaction against such attacks so rely on them and invest in some really effective techniques that'll simply better your chances of survival.
