Irish newbie here

Hey all, this website looks fantastic, lots of great information and advice on it! Hopefully it can keep motivated and help me reach my goals!

A Little bit about myself, I'm 22, from Ireland, 5'8" and weighing 90kilos. My eating habits are terrible, I eat a good bit of fast food, excessive binge drinking on the weekends, I smoke, and over the past 6 months a lot of my clothes just aren't fitting me any more, and my energy levels are absolute rock bottom. I need to make some serious changes in my life style and diminish these moobs and ever expanding beer-gut!

I have't really got a notion about nutrition or dieting, if anyone could recommend me somewhere to start? (Besides the obvious, curb the fast food and give the beer a break). I don't own any exercise equipment or have access to a gym as funds are tight at the moment and I'm just about getting by (I'm sure you all read the news and see Ireland's current financial position? haha) Any starting out advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

The first thing I tell everyone is hello!

Ok, second thing I suggest is a food diary. Exercise is good but changes in your calorie intake goes much further. For one week, write down everything you eat to the last bit. You have to be totally honest. We have a section on the forum you can post a 'diary' if you want members to support you and give some advice on that. After one week, you can look back and see where you can make changes or remove items completely.

If you feel like you emotionally eat, I'd suggest writing down how you are feeling before you eat as well.

I love me an Irish accent! Welcome to the forum! I agree with Jericho--a food diary is a great way to keep yourself accountable and see where you are going wrong.

I'm a smoker as well..One vice at a time, eh? ;)

Hi
welcome and good luck with your journey.

My advice is to read the stickies in the nutrition area of the forum, there is a wealth of knowledge there.
