Hey, I'm Marissa and I'm 16 and from the UK. I have been stuck at the same weight/gaining weight for the past year and would really like to loose 12 lbs before the beginning of september. However the things that keep me from loosing weight are the fact I am forever hungry, and have a slow metabolism. I came here because I don't really get any support from family/friends where weightloss is concerned (most of them are skinny & have no idea how difficult it is). I was wondering if anyone would like to be diet buddies with me?

Hi Marissa ... welcome.

Let me ask you a question .. you say you have a "slow metabolism" ... how do you know that? Have you had your metabolism tested? The reason I ask is that most people who say they have a slow metabolism, really don't.

Most of the time what' happening is that you're not eating a good selection of healthy food (which will explain why you're hungry all the time as well) and you may have caused your metabolism to temporarily slow if you've been doing any kind of extreme dieting.

Can you tell us what you eat on an average day and how much and what kind of exercise you get? We will be more than happy to offer suggestions to help you.

Hi Marissa

I am in the UK too.

Kara is right and I know that people here can help you get your food on the right track.

Exercise is always really good for helping you to lose weight. Starting to go out walking made the biggest of differences for me.

You could start bringing more activity into your life today. Think whether there are any sports or exercise classes that you fancy. Walking is really nice in good weather and it doesnt cost any money either. You actually dont need to tell anyone that you are exercising or trying to lose weight - you just say that you fancied a walk... You would be surprised by how effective it can be.

I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and that would be a good idea if you are often hungry. I also find it good to make up sugar free jelly. I make up a big bowl and sometimes throw in some fruit.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Hey, thank you for your replies
At the moment I've been eating around 1500 calories per day but as for the foods I eat, they can vary alot so it's difficult for me to say what but I do try to eat fruit & veg. As for exercise, I run about 3km a day.
No, I haven't had my metabolism tested but I believe it has been slowed down due to previous eating issues I've had, as loosing weight has become a lot more difficult.
