Well I guess it's time for my introduction. My name is Kevin I am 33 years old. I have struggled most of my adult life with being overweight. It runs in the family unfortunately. I have known what I need to do just was to tired and lazy to do it. That all changed about 2 weeks ago. My father who is 64 just had quintuple bypass surgery. It came out of left field for us. He has always been the one who had the great metabolism and was never more that 10 - 15lbs from where he should be. Needless to say this scared me if my dad who has always been in good shape could have this happen what chance do I have. Currently I am 6'1" and 305lbs. After this happened I went out and bought and eliptical trainer have cut back on the crap and introduced a lot of fruits into my diet. I am trying to eat an apple or grapes when I have the urge for something sweet. It seems to be fitting the bill at this point. We are cutting back on sodium and all the stuff that is not good for the heart so hopefully I don't have to go through the same thing in 31 years. I started my eliptical workouts last night after it was delivered and I put it together. I am hoping you guys can help me stay motivated and loose the weight. I would like to get down to 225lbs ultimately. I was 249 when I graduated High School and wasn't to badly over weight then probably just 25lbs so I am thinking that 225 will be a good weight. If I can go lower than that great but I think that is a reasonable goal. I am not looking to loose all of it super fast although that would be nice but if I can average 2 - 5 lbs a week that would be nice. Anyway.. I am a techno geek so I am wondering if anyone knows of some good software to track workouts and diet? Thanks...

Hello Rc

Welcome and good luck, you can always review your goal again once you reach your first one, you never know the lighter new you may feel fantastic and you may want more.

Lots and lots of reasons why its great to keep in shape and its important to get in your mind what ALL those reasons are collectively.

Brilliant that you have taken this step and I wish you well.

good luck and congrats on making a life choice...
