Hello everyone, I just found your website today and wanted to introduce ourselves. My name's Jeff, my wife's is Michelle, I'm 42 years old, she's 38 and we have been happily married for 21 years this summer.

My wife and I just started going back to the gym today, we're going to try and get back into working out after taking several years break because of me having five back surgeries (implanted spinal cord stimulator), and an ankle reconstruction since December 2001.

Currently I am up to 335 lbs and 6' tall I would really like to get back to my old army weight of 180 (20+ years ago) but will gladly take 220 now. My wife weighs 200+. and would like to get back to around 120-140. Major goal lose a lot weight before our youngest son's senior year in high school because his high school marching band is playing at Disney World in 2 years and we are meeting him there. Then all of us are staying for 2 weeks for a family vacation for a graduation gift to him and we don't want to be huffing and puffing all over the parks.

Our goal is to do at least 30 min a day stationary bike and elliptical the rest of this week except Sunday. That is going to be off day seeing how the Y is closed that day. Next week try at least 45 min everyday and I will use the swimming pool MWF for an extra half hour for back therapy. We are going at 6:00 a.m.

OK. now that I have sufficiently bored everyone with our life story I'll let you get back to more important things. I would like to get some advice from you guys and gals for some low impact ab and back workouts that is easy on the back.

hi!!

glad to have you aboard!! Is your wife going to be signing up as well??

Good luck on your journey! we'll be here to support you!

Welcome to WLF. Hey, you've got great goals but just know that any weight you lose and strength and enjoyment you get from physical activity is going to make you feel better. You probably already know what to do, just don't give up before the results show. I hope you enjoy the forum.

As for safe exercises, I recommend you look up Steve, his diary is Journey Not a Destination, and I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction. Not a medical person, but a respected forum user.

Enjoy!
