I've been reading advice on this forum for a while now and decided I better introduce myself. I am 5'6" 140lbs 21 yr old female. I had been working out at Curves for about a year and lost 10lbs on their diet plan, but lost a lot of my muscle. Since they only use air resistance and no weights you feel like you get a workout, but I picked up a pair of 5lb dumbells at Target and after carrying them for 5 min they were Heavy! lol So I decided it was time for a switch. My parents are trying to sell their old house and still have a 15 yr old treadmill and a weight lifting machine there, so I have been using that since the middle of February. My job changed to part time then also, so I am limited to using this equipment only Mon, Wed, & Thurs, since I live 10 miles away and gas is too high.
My goal is to run a 5k this summer. I enjoyed running in high school, but was always the slowest on the track team. When I started running in Feb, I was so out of shape I could only run a few min, so I have been running a few min, walking a few min, for about 35 min. Then I do a total body lifting rotine, in between the lifts I do either crunches, squats, or lunges. I have to do something between lifts because it is about 45 degrees in the house! We're still getting snow in Iowa so I'm stuck running inside for now.
My diet is pretty good, not perfect. I don't like very many veges and milk and I don't get along, so I take a multi. I love fruits, chicken, and try to get as much protein as possible.
Thank you to everyone on this site! It is very positive and inspiring.
