hi, my name is Ricky, im 39, 5'11" and weigh 250 lbs. i used to be 180 and loved it. i started a job almost 2 yrs ago, and went to nights. thats when my trouble started. i work 12 hr shifts, standing and building tires for bridgestone. so i know im getting good exercise. but now my eating habits have changed. im always hungry, and on my days off, i really eat a lot. but mostly at night. because thats how my body has adapted to what is "the norm". and of course i go to bed when im off at normal time, as to be with the wife. i really need help guys. i need information on things to take to curve my cravings and cut my calories. i just started cutting back on carbs, and fest on baked chicken, and fish etc. drink plenty of water. is there any kind of shakes or things of that nature to help boost energy, metabolism etc? i would appreciate any help i can get. this weight gain has started taking a toll. thanks.

A lot of people believe that they drink plenty of water - but they are not drinking enough. Measure how much water you are drinking. If you are not drinking 1 ounce of water for every two pounds that you weigh - you are not drinking enough.

You could experiment with protein powders - but remember that they are calories that you could be eating in a more pleasurable way - so be sure to include them in your calorie total for the day to ensure that it makes sense.

I do not bother with them and fill myself up with a lot of fruit and veg. We all need a decent amount of protein too.

I actually like fruit and 0% fat Greek yoghurt for a snack to satisfy me... It can deliver a decent amount of protein with fruit to bulk it out ans provide all sorts of vitamins.
