in need of advice

k i am 19 and 5'6 251lbs. i was recently began having bad heart burns and the docter said that it was because i was consuming too much acid from junk food.
a normal day is
7am
bowl of cereal
9am
2 deep fried burritos
1 can of soda
11am
subway sandwhich
2 sodas
2pm
monster drink
late night about 2 more sodas

i was thinking of just cut the sodas out and just eat the cereal in the morning and a frozen dinner for lunch then skip dinner

k my goal is i want to drop down to around 190
i was thinking of doing a cardio workout (jump rope) for about 10mins a day 7 days a week then up the time 2-5 mins every week.
but i was reading that adding weightlifting to a cardio workout plan will increase weight loss. dose that mean light or heavy lifting?i also wanted to build my cheast but have read that if your fat and just lift weights you will looked blouted. so should i drop weight then lift or what.any advice as to how to achieve that weight loss goal would be greatly appreciated
 
You need to learn all about healthy eating and totally change just about everything on that food plan.

Read the stickies in the nutrition section.

Do not think in terms of one thing changing. I think that you want to change just about everything.

You need lots of fruit and veg.
You need to drink lots of water. Full calorie soda is bad for you from so many different angles.
You need to have some dairy products.
You need to include protein that comes from meat and fish among other things.
Any cereal that you have needs to be without sugar.

Come up with a better plan and we may be able to work with how it can be improved a bit more for you.
 
I agree with Omega.

Although cutting back on the soda is a good start, skipping dinner is not. And continuing to eat junk will not help either - with your health or your weight.

As far as exercise, yes, exercise will help you burn calories, which will help you lose fat. And lifting weights (properly) will help you maintain muscle while you burn fat.

BUT ...

Again it all goes back to what you eat. If you skip meals and put crap food in your body, then you won't have the energy to exercise properly. What will wind up happening is that you'll lose weight if you cut back, sure, but you'll lose muscle as well as fat and wind up flabby and out of shape. If, that is, you're able to sustain a diet of one meal a day.

Ideally you should be eating a variety of healthy foods pretty much in this order:
Lots of veggies
Lean meats and proteins
Grains and complex carbs
Fruits

Plus, as Omega mentioned water water water. The American Sports Medicine Association recommends a start of 1/2 oz of water for each pound you weigh. More if you workout a lot and sweat a lot. If you can't stomach that much plain water, you can try things like fizzy water (seltzer or club soda) with a little (very little) fruit juice added for flavor, or some of the low cal drink mixes on the market (like Crystal Lite and similar).

k i read some of the nutrition section that omega said to. so it alot of people are saying that you need to have protein in your diet and that when you starve yourself you metabolism slows down. so what if instead of the eating plan i had above i have
breakfast
oatmeal or like special k so i dont gotta eat the sam thing everyday
lunch
weight watcher
dinner
fish
with plenty of water throughout the day?
and then do the jump rope in the morning and before i go to bed.
 
Better. But where are your vegetables? Where are your healthy fats? Where are the grains?

And at your weight, you should probably be eating around 2500 calories to lose weight at a safe and healthy rate. If you cut back to that bare minimum thing you're planning, you'll get hungry and frustrated and probably won't be able to maintain that program.

You need to be able to eat enough to be comfortable and not feel like you're starving yourself.
 
k how about instead of the weight watcher i have a piece of meat with 2 slices of wheat bread?

I'd also suggest you register for a free account at fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and start logging the food you eat. It'll help you see how many calories you're eating and what kind of nutrients you're getting.
