Home plan?

I can only exercise at home, and for a while i've kinda been making up any exercise as i go along so it isn't benefitting me much. I only have very little equipment (dumbells, resistance band, inner thigh toner and a twist board)

I would like 3 plans which would contain a cardio exercise, stretching and toning. I would like 3 so that i can rotate them which i have read is more beneficial. I don't really know much about exercise so i was wondering if any of you lot could help me out. Or if any of you know of any online workouts like i need?

I really need some help!!

Thanks in advance

I love my videos...I have 2 that I alternate, and one I haven't tried yet. Once I've done them a few times, I turn down the volume and turn up my music. I find them fun, but I might be odd:D One is step aerobics (which is low impact, because my asthma keeps me from running and jumping around), and the other is for working ALL of the muscles. The one I haven't tried yet is Pilates. I also go for a long walk every day.

Hey,

Videos are a great way to work out at home. I usually borrow them from the library to see if I like them (before buying). Also, if you have stairs to your house or apt you could run up and down those as an equipment-free workout.

When I'm working out at home, I bust out old PE favorites (think: jumping jacks) to get my heart pumping.

For other good tips, check out .

Home exercises: Cardio

Are there any cardio home exercises? If so, what? Also, how much cardio should one do a week and how many hours?

i think one should do cardio for at least an hour a day. this can be pretty stressful so you may want to start off with 30 mins. then up to 45 mins. then 1 hour.

After 45 minute however you stop burning fat so ideally that is the appropriate amount of time. But high intensity cardio for 30 mins is fine.

I've never heard of this. Where did you read about the 45 min. thing?

wow, i hope to be able to do 1 hour of cardio, for now i am reaching for 15min of cardio with 45 min of walking. (does walking count as cardio, i'm no speed walker)?

just don't go for videos, there are alot of tips.... sometime u need to walk, better is walk daily for your life.

Hi,
It's possible to get an awesome workout right at home without much equipment. You may want to have some assistance from a trainer or other professional tomake sure you are hitting all your muscle groups and getting the best cardiovascular benefit and best possible calorie burning from your exercise. It's important that the plan is the right one for YOU, not just some random plan.
There is a lot you can do with just body weight exercises as far as strength training goes. Core training and yoga are both awesome to do at home as well. Let me know if I can help at all.

I've been working out at home and loving it! I'm losing weight and gaining muscle tone...even getting the toned arms! I've read a lot of books, use a variety of DVD's plus walk or run too. You can get into shape at home, but it's always a good idea for newbies to see a personal trainer in the beginning to make sure you learn the basics.
Cardio, step aerobics, stength training, walking, etc. are all great to mix and match. Mixing it up is great and keeps things interesting.
Your body will get used to the same routine and hit a plateau, similar to weight loss plateau's - so shake things up and keep your butt out of a rut!

You might want to check out . All you need is a sledgehammer. It's not as crazy as it sounds, and it's a good workout. I do this less often than they recommend on the site, but it gets the muscles working!

Simple things to do at home? Cardio?

I find that sometimes I cannot leave my house. Whether it be for work, or anxiety, or weather...sometimes I will step on the other side of my door for a whole week. That's not going to change..sometimes I just panic or need to hole up and finish something for work.

I go to a gym...mainly for cool classes, but what can I do when I'm in "shut-in mode?"

I need some good suggestions. I'm dabbling with yoga some, and I guess I can put a CD on and dance around in my underwear like a damned fool...but doesn't anyone else have any ideas? Isolated stretches? Lifts? No sports bra in the world will make jumping s painless thing to do so i hate doing that.

PLEASE somebody look at my goals and tell me exactly what to do. I respond well to that kind of thing.

Don't tell me to go outside and go for a walk....after almost 37 years I have come to grips with the fact that it's not always possible!

Any and all advice is welcome!! Thanks!!

Hey Blair- Have you tried any exercise videos? I have a dancing one that is actually really enjoyable- it has a punk, latin and rock routine that is not too intense for those whose fitness levels arent at EXPERT level as many of the videos are-

ALso, i have 10-minute pilates, which is fabulous as the routines are litereally each 10 minutes but you can really feel the burn- that way, when you're really not in the mood to workout, force yourself to do 10 minutes and you'll already get the endorphins going!

I just had another thought- as I mentioned before, I'm doing the 'Buff Brides' workout- its actually designed for women who want to workout at home and its really brilliant- it doesnt strain any of your muscles but you can feel the burn bigtime- Definitely look into it:)

Also, if you have stairs in your house, you can try going up and down them a few times in a row.

and like Crazybecka88 said, excersize videos are a great way to work out. There is such a variety out there! Anyone can find one that is fun for them.

Myself? I do the dancing around thing, though not in my undies LOL.

This is making me want to look into the Buff Brides. You have me sold! You have mentioned it a few times and it just seems to be for me. But I will have to memorize the steps as I do not have a VCR or a DVD player (except for on my laptop)and so I'd prefer something I can do without a "follow aong."

The 10 minutes pilates sounds right up my alley as well. Is it something you can tell me about, or do you kinda have to watch it first? I might just have to buy something, memorize it and then do it on my own.

No stairs unfortunately. However, I am skipping all elevators I see and opting instead for the stairs when I go anywhere. And I don't trudge up the stairs either...I briskly jog or skip, no matter what I'm wearing. I have gotten this down looking really cute in heels! I figure this is a way for me to force some exercize in me somehow...

I have a tendency of buying workout dvds and never doing them, which is why I opted to purchase the 'Buff Brides' BOOK- It gives you a full workout that you can do at home- you just have to pay a few weights and an exercise ball- its really wonderful and I think it would do wonders for you:) $14.99 on Amazon! Alternatively, I could make copies of the exercises and send it to you but it would take longer to get to you:) Have a great day xo
