*** Im Such A Pig ***

Yesterday I promised myself that i was going to go to the gym AGAIN starting this week, then i buy eat 2 candies, then finally when i was ready to go to the gym i put on my gym clothes and drove to La Madeline where i bought
5 almond crossants, then I drove to the gym and sat outside eating them! wachting the guys in the weight lifting area work out.

THEN I DROVE HOME and my parents think i actually went to the gym

AHHHHH I HATE MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!

And don't get into a routine of beating yourself up. Positivity ALWAYS beats out negativity.

Tell yourself, over and over (may sound cheesy, but mantras are an effective, age old practice) : "I will do this, I will have self control, and every day I'm getting better"

Eventually, you'll convince yourself of it. When you have an overeating disorder (many of us have been there) there's a curve that goes into curbing it. I think your best bet for curbing it is to drink lots of water, green tea, and for your own sake, avoid sugars. They spike insulin production causing you to want to eat even more. Avoid sweets as much as you can :)

Just start over today. We all slip up. You have to keep a positive attitude- the way you think will have a lot to do with your success!!

oh definately! I honestly believe that staying positive and confident is half the work in the world of fitness.. and outside it to be honest

BINGO!!! The trick to getting into the swing of things is to start making the times you do workout outweigh the number of times you site outside the gym and eat...

You slipped up - oh well, make sure you do better tomarrow. Think of everyday being a challenge to see how healthy you can be, and everyday do better.

As far as mantra's go (i'm not a big fan), but I have used this one for other things: Today I did a lousy job...(insert), Today I did a great job... (insert), Tomarrow I will do a better job... (insert).

One more thing you can do is keep a log, either privately or here on the forum. The advantage of the forum is you get input.

A year ago I went through a phase that lasted a few months of saying to myself "I'll start eating better tomorrow." And I'd end up saying that EVERYday. It was discouraging, depressing, and I gained about 5 pounds. So not fun.

All I can say is that you must make significant effort. Remind yourself, when you are being tempted not to work out or eat well, that you're not going to change unless you do something RIGHT NOW. As in, RIGHT THIS SECOND. Really try to stop yourself before doing unhealthy things and THINK. I would probably have gained far more than 5 pounds if I didn't learn to slow down my thoughts and take control of what I was doing.

This is why so many people give up. They kick themselves for straying but we are all quilty of it...you just pick yourself up and tommorrow is another day. For myself I go to the gym in the morning, its a rush but a 30 min workout is better than not going at all on the days that I normally wouldn't even go. :)

whenever i slip up in my diet/exercise, it encourages me to try even harder.
If i eat a bunch of crap one night, i feel so overdoing it that i think to myself .. this week coming up (thats starting tomorrow morning) i'm going to follow every guideline so perfectly that im gona see good results at the end of it.
It works for me, i get started up again and it gets easier as the week nears an end.

One thing you just gota be sure of, you can't use it as an excuse like "ill just eat whatever i want today cuz ill try really hard after".
If you're gona slip up, then go out fighting. Use all resistance you got to not eat that big slice of cheesecake :O

Very nice and relevant thread! If I happen to lay my hands on something then my first instinct is to share and give away as quickly as possible. If that does not happen and I end up eating it, I need to burn the calorie eqvt extra the next day.
This has been working nicely for me for a couple of months now. Not sure whether its a good way but the best way is definitely to.......... STAY AWAY !
