I'm so frusterated!!!!!

I started my diet and excersize at 215 pounds. By counting my calories and writing them down so i don't cheat and exercising I managed to get down to 170.

I hit a plateau and have up for about two months but upon finding out that my dad is treating my boyfriend and I to a free trip to florida to see my grandparents I wanted to start up again and see if I could break 170 and get down to a decent bathing suit size before we go down there.

I've been eating right and counting my calories. I eat about 1100 calories a day give or take a few. I eat things like whole grain bread, tuna fish (it's really the only kind of fish I like) chicken, veggies, fruit, and I drink about a gallon of water throughout the day.

I've been going to the gym. I used to get on the cross trainer for 30 min then do some crunches and then work on my arms or legs depending on the day, then i'd do another 30 minutes on the cross trainer. The past 3 work outs though I decided to get on the treadmill instead and it was way harder but I still did my full 30 min both times.

The thing is. I haven't lost an ounce! I don't even understand how that's possible. My understanding was "Burn more calories than you take in = lose weight, 3500 calories = 1pound"

I should have at least lost a half a pound in a week of doing this. Especially after my body got used to not exercising for my 2 month break.

I can't see a difference in the mirror. i can't tell if my clothes are any more loose because i'm still wearing clothes from when iw as over 200 pounds. I did try on a pair of 14 jeans the other day and they fit well but I'm not convinced that they wouldn't have fit a week ago.

Could I be retaining water or something?

A week's time isn't worth anything in terms of your weight. Also, weight is measuring more than just fat.

Lastly, calories are low and exercise could use some "cleaning up" (see: stickies). Beating your body into submission isn't the answer. It will resist your efforts with greater ferocity.

Yup. Steve is right.

Some people are lucky enough to see an immediate drop when they start dieting and some people (like me) often have to wait and then see movement in fits and starts.

It's also possible that you are eating more sodium, which might cause you to retain water.

It's also quite likely that since starting to work out again, your muscles are retaining some fluid, which will also keep the scale from moving. It doesn't mean you're not making progress, but the scale weighs EVERYTHING, not just fat.

Finally all of that aside, 1100 calories is too low. :) At your current weight and with the amount of exercise you're doing, you need to eat more. I would say start around 1800 calories and then work down from there. Your body needs nutrition - you can't just starve it into submission.

try a new workout routine sometimes you have to work a little harder to get over that peak, maybe in between days you don't go to the gym you van go for a 2 mile walk instead.

Take some measurements too! I know I didn't want to at the start, but when you've lost 45lbs then you should see the inches come off which will be great motivation :)

Perhaps you could try a little weight training. Unlike longer, slower cardio...this could boost your metabolism for longer periods of time (you burn calories while your muscles are rebuilding).

And You get the added benefit of not having to work out for as long.
