I'm small and skinny....trying to get curvy and fit... is this possible?

Hi!

didn't really know where to post this.

Basically I'm female, 25, 5'2" and a size 6. I've always been small and skinny but I have previously been very fit before (did martial arts for 6 years, horse riding and other things)

Due to general circumstances changing any exercise ended up coming to a stop for pretty much 3 years (I was able to go running occassionally though)

Anyway I have a new job and more free time and am able to start trying to get fit again. I had a plan of all the different things I was going to do to not only get fit but have fun!

However just before I was about to start I suddenly became very ill with a nasty kidney infection - through constantly being sick and not eating I ended up losing a lot of weight. What used to be tight skinny jeans are now a bit baggy on me!

So, I'm a little stuck now.

On one hand, now I'm healthy again I want to go straight to the gym and start my exercise plan to get fit.

On the other hand, even my boyfriend has expressed his concern that I've lost weight and has told me he doesn't want me to do any exercise! He's worried it will be bad for me and says he thinks I ought to try and "fatten up a bit" first.

So what do I do?? How do I gain a bit of healthy weight/fat back, and at the same time burn enough to get fit and toned again?

Surely each of those would require to very different lifestyles?

Is there any way I can try to get my curves back but get toned up at the same time???

Would appreciate any feedback!!!!!

Thanks
Lozzy

just do some form of weights preferably a fullbody workout plus some cardio, you will gain some muscle(as long as you eat enough) this will fill out the places that are lacking at the moment, and the cardio will get your fitness back.

You definitely should exercise, focusing more on strength training to start with over cardio. Without the weight training you'll just add fat and no muscle, and end up not looking very fit. The bottom line though is you need to consume more calories than you burn. So take that into account as you increase your activity level, as you'll need to eat more than you are now. As long as you eat enough, you will build muscle and add a bit of fat to get those curves back. Be sure of course to eat healthy food.
