Hi, I am new, I am so glad to have found this website. It seems to have the support I am looking for, I sure hope I am right.

I'll start by telling you all a little about myself. I am a 27 year old female living in southern Maryland working as a night time nurse. I have 2 children, 3 full term pregnacies (one of my children passed away), I mention the number of pregnacies because they have contributed to this full figure of mine. The fact that I am a night time nurse says that I sleep most of my dayworking and work all night (only 3 days a week working 12 hour shifts, occasional overtime). My metabolism I'm sure is shot! I don't eat alot, really probally 1 meal a day. I always ate like this, and didn't see this to be a problem. I chose a IUD as my last form of birth control before switching to my current BC and I blew up 25lbs heavier 179lbs with the IUD to be exact. I was going to the gym 4 times a day, and I still was gaining weight, I couldn't loose a lb or a oz. It became so discouraging, I quit going. What changed my quest to loose weight is my birth control method, I got my doctor to pull my IUD. Sorry to be so direct but I bled for 10 days afterward, I checked my scale one day and it said 170lbs.

Wow, I thought! Could I actually do this, how can I get my sexy back. Right now I wear a size 12 jeans, I got married recently in a size 16 dress. Talk about crying. My husband and I want to get married again in a chuch, we did the justice of piece thing, which will be great, but I don't want a size 16 dress. So I need some support. Any Ideas? I am open to all thoughts/opinions, all support and all prayers.

Thanks Tamwalt! Good luck to you as well. You seem to have lost 16 lbs. What is your plan, has it become easier as you days go by? I am doing the calorie counting and walking. I am hoping to go back to the gym soon, I want to focus on my eating habits first, what do you think.

How did you get the ticker?

I got mine at tickerfactory.com. :)

My plan? I'm just trying to eat as healthy as I know how. I'm trying to eat 5-6 meals a day, counting calories, really need to work on drinking my water, I've started eating whole grain foods, trying, not succeeding too well at minimizing my sugar and sodium (sweets and soda, hehe)... and doing cardio almost everyday for 20-55 minutes... I'm doing the FIRM workouts...though so far I can only do one of the videos. Oh, an some days are easier than others. Like today, I felt like I did awesome, until I realized I ate like 1,000 calories less then I needed to, which left me in a 1,500 calorie deficit today.

Hello and welcome! You are going to like it here. Maybe you need to eat more to fuel your body. They say that you should eat your 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. So maybe you just plain are not eating enough. When you do eat your body is storing it as fat so it has something to use when you don't eat. Walking is a great way to get in shape I started with that and I tried running and now hiking allot. So baby steps. You can do this. Good luck. Tina

Someone else told me that not eatting enough is like eatting to much. I literly eat "like a bird"! I couldn't understand why I would steadily gain weight. Weight gain is so often is linked to over eatting. Eatting more, in a way seems like going backward in weight loss than forward. Althought I do realize you need the food for fuel to workout, It's totally different for me. Do you plan out your meals, calorie count. How many calories per meal do you consume. I won't go above 300 calories. Do you think I should increase the calorie intake? The water drinking is not a problem, I consume at least 6 1 pt. deer park brand water a day, no juice or soda just water. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome?

Vitamins

I really don't understand vitamin supplements either, I thought not eatting 3 meals a day was ok if I am getting the nutrients through another source via vitamins. How does this work, I am very confused on this matter!
