I'm new!!!

Hey everybody. I'm just trying to get some support with changing my life. I've slowly gotten bigger and bigger over the years and now I weigh 240 pounds. I never let it bother me enough to actually do the work to lose the weight until now. My sister had the lap band surgery in October and now I only weigh 50 pounds less than her. I know that sounds like alot but I've always been at least 100 pounds less than her. I'm happy that she's going to be healthy, but I just can't let myself become "the fat one." I already have a younger sister who weighs 120 pounds soaking wet. Diets never work for me so I'm trying to really change my lifestyle. It's so hard though. Any advise is welcome.

Hello!

I know how you feel.. I have also slowly gained the weight over the years.. and I AM known as the fat one. I don't have any actual advice on how to loose weight, just exercise and eat healthy, I am new here too. anyway I just wanted to welcome you and say you are not alone.. There are tons of great people on this site who will give you good advice(I'm not one of those..lol).. anyway.. Good Luck!

Welcome to the forums. I am still fairly new to the site as well, but you're in good company here. People are friendly and supportive and many have been right where you are now. You're not alone!

Hi there welcome! I know how you're feeling.. although im sort of the opposite.. i weigh 233, well 230ish at the moment, my older sister was slim her whole life.. where as i seemed to get the "fat gene".. i always felt totally unattractive at family partys and with boyfriends id always feel theyd be gorping at my sister and not me.. but she had a baby about 6 weeks ago and has actually put 5 stone on and now weighs in at 240 and is 4 inches shorter than me so has a much higher bmi.. now i have decided to change my lifestyle she is coming along for the ride too, but she is struggling alot with her weight gain as her husband met her at a a few dozen pounds less, so its been difficult for her.

There is alot of support on here especially if you find people with similar weight and goals to yourself.

What sort of method of weight loss are you using.. e.g exercise regime? nutrional info?

I'm really just eating well and exercising everyday. I'm trying to keep myself busy so I won't think about food. The thing that I think has helped the most is that I don't bring anything fattening into the house. So even when I start getting the 4'oclock restlessnees, as I call it, I can't munch out on bad stuff. It's REALLY hard. Especially with a son who always wants mcdonalds and stuff like that.
