I'm new to this....

So here's the deal. I've recently decided to do the working out and eating right thing and I'm looking for advice on what Im doing wrong and any other helpful tips. I'm 6 ft and 157 lbs. I'm not extremely over weight but I do want to get rid of my belly fat and bulk up my upper body. I go to the gym 5 days a week and start off every work out with a 2 mile run. After that I do 3 sets of 10 for anything I do. By the time I finish the third set I'm really pushing myself to finish. As far as my diet goes I've completly changed it. I've cut out all junk food. A normal day consists of 2-3 egg whites plus one whole egg scrambed and either a wheat English muffin or slice of wheat toast. Through out the day I eat usually 2 to 3 cups of non fat cottage cheese along with fruit. For lunch I'd eat a tuna sandwhich (on wheat bread of course) and for dinner it may be a half of a chicken breast with a salad. I don't drink soda or any store bought fruit juice and the only milk I drink is skim. Any advice on what I may be doing wrong or what I could improve would be very helpful.

Hey newguy, welcome!

So what exactly is going wrong? Are you not losing any weight at all? Are you gaining weight? How long have you been following the plan you outlined above? Are you noticing improvements in strength? Why do you only want to gain upper body size? OK I'll stop with the questions :)

First of all there's never too many questions. There's nothing going wrong.I've been doing this for two weeks now and haven't been gaining weight but have lost a few lbs. Like I stated I'm new to this so I'm just trying to see if what I'm doing makes sense. And as far as the upper body size goes...that's not all I want to do but that and my stomach is just my main focus for right now.

In that case, I don't see anything necessarily wrong. While you may see some weight loss early on, muscle strength will take a few weeks to show, and size will take a few months.
