Hi,

I'm new to the group. My name is Christine, and I am a 41 yo s/w/f. I need to lose approximately 100 lbs. and feel I finally have reached the stage in my life where I am motivated to do that. I wasn't always this heavy, and I don't know where along the journey of life the weight packed on, I just know that it is there.

I am a Tupperware Consultant, and am meeting people constantly. I don't want to meet them as this fat person anymore.

I have been following Dr. Martha Beck's "The Four Day Win", and it seems to be working. I have started making good choices and exercise a habit through her plan.

Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Christine

welcome Christine to the forum :D
this place will help you in achieving your goals. what you should do is open your diary in a diary section where you can write about you and what you are going through, what you eat, generally, a place where you can keep track of what you're doing.
you can achieve your goals...it just takes a decision, motivation, some support and a bit of work...but the journey is definitely a wonderful one.

Hello and welcome!

I definately agree with Lena about starting a diary. It's very helpful in keeping you on track and accountable. It's also a good way to express your feelings which I think also helps. Another thing that has helped me a lot of other people is to keep track of your calories. A very easy way to do this is by going to: You can search the foods you eat, select it and it counts the cal's for you! And if you can't find a food you ate, you can always add your own custom food. Not only that but you can keep track of your fitness, weight goals, etc. It's a very useful site.

It's always good to be able to see how many cal's certain foods are and also see as a whole the types of foods you're eating. I know using fitday I noticed I wasn't eating enough fruits and veg, etc. I don't know what kind of food you eat, but make sure you do get your fruits, veggies, lean proteins, whole grains, etc. I try not to fry anything, I use my grill (I don't need to use any oil or butter or anything on it, so the meat doesm't get extra cals from that). It's little things like that, that can make a big difference.

Good luck on your weight loss journey! If you start a diary, let me know, I'll be happy to come check it out!

Welcome to the forum. :)

So glad to hear that you are motivated to make this positive change. I look forward to hearing more from ya!

You might want to consider starting a journal/diary here.

Welcome and congratulations on your commitment to being healthier!! I'm sure you'll find lots of great support here. I'd encourage you to set small goals for yourself to start with - maybe exercising 10 minutes at a time, then working up to 20 minutes and more. Or to cut out soda/processed foods one at a time and slowly incorporate more fruits and veggies. In the beginning, it's easy to think you can change your life and lose weight overnight, but it's a process that takes time. You don't want to get burned out too quickly.

Good luck!

Welcome

Hi Christine,

I think you are going to find this site really useful. When I stepped on the scale today and realized I had lost a pound, the first thing I wanted to do was log-on and post. It is nice to know there are other people looking out for you and excited about your weight loss too! Best wishes for success with your weight loss.

What terrific advice about cutting one food out and replacing with fruit and veggies!:)

Hi - I lost 100lbs last year and some of the best things that worked for me are:

- Like has been said above, eat veg instead of other foods, and try to fill up on them so you aren't hungry for junky foods.
- Brushing my teeth or chewing mint gum instead of eating
- Regular, simple exercise [like walking for 15 mins-half an hour each day more than you normally do.
- Taking everything slowly
- Even if you don't lose weight immediately, you will eventually so keep that in mind
- Don't obsess with your final goal, set yourself stages
- Drink loads of water for many reasons - good for metabolism, exercise and makes you feel more positive so you are less likely to feel bad and eat junk.

Those are a few of the things that helped me along the way - hope they are of use to you or anyone else reading - good luck.
