Hi, my names Billy and im from NW Indiana & until recently I have been horrible with weight loss and those "so" called diets! I usually have a small breakfast or none at all... a pot pie or something for lunch and some sweets and a whole pizza or large servings for dinner. I realize I am way backwards, a few days ago I realize I need to change my life not only for me but my beautiful family (2 girls & my awesome wife) as well. Before I was eating between 4000-8000 Calories a day.... 3 days ago I started a major cut down, no eating after 7pm, no fast food or eating out, no sweets or at least 100 calorie packs. I am eating a bowl of Special K for breakfast, Lean Cusiune for lunch, and a slimfast for dinner & taking a few vitamins. I have since lost 7 lbs in 2 days. I also wanted to add I work out on the treadmill w/ an incline of 6 for an hour a day now and 4 miles a day on that.... Im so motivated before summmer to look good. My goal is 250lbs by summer and no one or nothing is gonna stop me!:drool5:

Welcome to the forum.

I'm no expert but I can tell you something I know. I'm assuming if you want to be 250 by summer and you are aiming to lose 75 lbs you are 325 now.

It sounds to me like you are not eating enough calories. It is good that you cut out all the sweets, that is a start.

But I'm sure Mal and Steve will chime in with their expertise.

I agree. You need to increase your daily caloric intake to a healthy weight loss level. Check out a calorie calculator online, it should help you out.

Cutting out the sweets is extremely difficult. Great job so far.

there's no real evidence that not eating after a certain hour helps with weight loss - depending on what you're eating or not eating -it may make a difference in the scale, but that doesnt mean you've lost fat... it's total calories in the day that's the deciding factor in weiht loss.. not when you eat them

3 no fast food or eating out, no sweets or at least 100 calorie packs.
I can't stress this enough - you want to dump the diet mentality you've got right now - and think lifestyle change - Lifestyle change means you can eat out, you can have a drink or two, you can have sweets, you just fit them into your day.. .No deprivation tha way -a nd it ensures long term success...

While Steve, (the really knowledgable one) will say at certain levels - too low a calorie diet isn't bad... that's true but what you're doing is really low on anything nutritious -it's too processed -has virtually no fibe. minimal protein and too much sugar... Vitamins aren't going to help that.. Again -think lifestyle change...

If you go from eating lots of fast food, processed foods etc to a healthier diet (not that what you're currently eating is remotely healthy ) you are going to drop a lot weight at the beginning, then it levels off...

Gratz on making the commitment to get healthy!

You're right, "diets" do work. Making healthy changes will! Cutting back calories in general, (including empty and unhealthy calories) and adding exercise is the way to go.

Be sure to be realistic, so its something you can do and maintain for the rest of your life. Make small changes at first if necessary, and build on them.

BTW- the family is adorable!

Howdy fellow Hoosier! I live in Indianapolis.

I would be happy to be your weight loss buddy.
I started out a bit bigger than you 355 pounds.

Check out my diary. I put everything in my diary each day that I consumed the day before. Since we are close to the same weight it might help, you can decide. I am really trying to include lots of veggies, lots of protein and lots of water. So far so good. I agree with Mal that it is a lifestyle change. I am eating now the way I want to eat or the rest of my life maybe adding some tweeking here and there but nothing major. Time will only tell I guess since I have only made the change on Jan 3.

Good luck!
