I'm New here and need some help

hello friends I'm Jeff. Im new to this site. Im having a hard time loosing weight I'm 5'7 295lbs. I have been doing alot of weight training and i have noticed my chest and arms getting bigger. but i still have my big belly and want to loose it. I would like to start a diet and exercise plan but not sure how to diet good. When i do go for weight training i take IntroVal shake during my training than after i take 100% Whey Protein after the work out. I work out in my friends basement and we are gonna invest in buying some cardio exercise machines.

any advice will help alot

Hi Jeff and welcome.

First of all, let me tell you this - what you eat is the most important part of losing weight. And to be honest, based on what you write, it appears to me that not only did you not cut back on your food intake, you're adding in 2x protein supplements -meaning you're probably gaining muscle, but also gaining weight.

Weight lifting alone, exercise alone will NOT cause you to lose weight after maybe a first few pounds.

You MUST cut back what you eat.

I would suggest registering with a free site like fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and logging your food. This will give you a good idea of how much you're eating, where your nutrition falls, if you even need the protein supplements, etc. It will also help you figure out where to cut back - which you're going to have to do in order to lose fat.
 
Kara is right. I use to monitor my nutrition and that is the only way to get a proper handle on what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong.

You need to improve your nutrition. Study the nutrition section - and visit a few diaries to see what the successful weight losers are doing that you could adopt.
