Hi I am new to this site and i am a 20yr old single mother of one who is trying to lose weight. Ive just started changing my eating habits and i walk one mile a day. It feels great. I havent lost any weight yet but i am confident i will. Its just depressing sometimes when i see all these small girls in the videos and stuff it makes me feel bad about myself but the main reason i want to lose weight is for my health. Diabetes runs in my family and i have a beautiful little boy that i have to live for. So he is my main motivation. I hope you guys can be there for me in my journey. My goal is to lose 60 pounds. I weigh 200 now but i want to be at at least 140. But the most i want to be at is 155. I want to do it by the Summer of 07. Hopefully if i keep on the path that i am going i will. Well thanks for listening and wish me luck! ~Amber:)

be healthy is for my kids I want to see them do everything in life and
also get out and do things with them! My goal is 150 to! well I would
definatly keep updating your diary daily with your food and exersices
so you can see what you are doing wrong and right! Also read others
and you might see great tips and advice there to!Have a gr8 day Tammy:D

Welcome! You can do this. The people here are very nice and very supportive. Sounds like you have a great start. Keep going!

Hey, good for you!

Have you considered jogging? Before you say you can't jog, check out the running plan.

I'm really keen on it because I've just started my second week's workouts, and I can really feel the difference it's making to my aerobic fitness! It's designed for people who aren't fit to start with, and literally gets you from being a couch potato to being able to run 5k (3 miles) non stop. That's weeks away from where I am now, but the workouts are easy, and they increase in difficulty very slowly so you don't feel too pressured.

I used to say `I can't jog, I'm too heavy', but as I improve and my weight decreases, I feel more and more enthusiastic about it :)

Oh, and don't set goals to try to look like celebrities or fashion models. Looking like that is their full time job, and they spend hours a day working on it. They're also commonly afflicted by eating disorders and being seriously underweight.

Trying to look like that is a path destined for disappointment because it's just not realistic for regular folks with busy lives and kids to care for.

Best wishes for your weight loss, you sound like you're getting things under control!
