Hey Everyone :seeya:

Ive slowly but surely been putting on the pounds. And being extremely short really don't help me much .. errr, at all.
I went to the Dr last week and my blood pressure has been high, I also have a family history of overweight and bad health problems. So before anything gets out of control i'm determined to attack this myself and w/o medications if I can.

All though high school and a few years afterward, I was always rather healthy looking and not really overweight at all. (I still sometimes blame some of my weight gain on the paxil I take, though I know working from the desk, and very little activity have A LOT to do w/ it)

I have started taking multivitamins, and fish oil, also drinking water, and tea. (I never ever drank water before this past week)

I'm reallly looking forward to sharing my story's and goals, and reading others. It really helps to be on a forum like this and talk with people who understand. I just purchased myself the wii fit. And started walking (its finally warming up here in Maine) I've cut sweets out of my diet all together, and trying really hard to get myself to eat breakfast, it's real hard for me b/c i work the night shift 10pm to 6am so I wake up around 2pm and don't eat til supper time, and the Dr says thats not good. Anyway I feel like I can do this, and that i'm on the right foot already.. I cant wait to read the post and learn more tricks and tips and share and read story's.

:seeya: Bye for now ...

Welcome there =D hehe

=> short here too and I understand ;) being short makes it that much harder just because our BMR tends to be lower.

and am glad to see that you've decided to go the healthy way, medication should only be used as last resort.
I do understand that you're having it tough, with family history and night shifts but hang in there! you'll make it just fine.

ps: jealous on the wii ;)

I just need to know some HEALTHy snacks.. Besides furits and veggies.. lol
I work on the computer and since I quit smoking, I find the need to chew.. I was eating abag of chips a day.. :piggy:

Anyway, thanks again!

word you got this its all a mind thing when you push past what your mind wants you totally can break into freedom....control your mind dont let your mind control you

You know what? Snacking is OKAY! Even snacking on chocolate or chips is okay as long as it is in a small amount and is factored into your daily calorie intake (and that your diet contains more than just the junk XD).

I am a chip-a-holic and I love my sweets, particularly butterscotch or chocolate flavored goodies. Weight Watchers came out with a line of snacks that are 1 point (usually less than 100 cals per snack item) that are really great to take the edge off that need for salt or sugar. I find that if I eat a small bag of 100 cal chips or a 90 cal thinsations chocolate bar, I nip the craving without betraying my calorie diet.

Just my two cents! ^_^

Thats what I really really need to do.. keep track of my calories. Do you do it on everything you eat... like even the potatoes w/ supper, or a piece of chicken? I need to learn all that stuff :(

Is there a site where you can put in what you ate and stuff and it will add up and keep track of calories for you?

I don't really understand how to find that when i'm eating corn or whatever. Inless i want to look like a total freak in front of the whole family and take out a measuring cup or something. I think its when I have to start doing that and reading the back of every label when i feel like i'm going to give up :(

Hi there CountryGirl!

I am new on here but I gotta tell you, I felt the same way about weighing my food and counting out the calories for everything I ate. But I just started jotting down everything I ate and used a calorie counter that I googled and now I find it fun. Sometimes shocking when I see how many calories some foods have. I have recently found a calorie counter/food journal for my phone and now it is like second nature cause I am glued to my cell phone, but once you get in the habit of recording your meals and figuring out the calories you have eaten, you get used to it and it only takes a couple of minutes. Good luck!

Thanks, and if you don't mind, could you please share the website you found to count and track calories? I was thinking of the weight watchers for that, but it's rather expensive online. i use to attend the classes, so I have all the material and kno how to use it.

Do you know the 1st way for weight loss is the natural Body building, anyone here heard about this? Usually this is done at home, and a couple of basic factors are resistance training and cardiovascular exercise, It works like this, when you are doing the weight lifting the weights being lifted by you should neither be lighter nor very heavy against recommended parameters. Always try to go for the recommended weights only so that you can easily go for four to six repetitions per set of exercise session. Resting for at least 2 to 3 minutes between each set is the most important factor for permitting the muscles to recover properly.

Hey CG, I was using a web based calorie count, but I found an app for my iphone and it does my log and calorie count at the same time, it also tracks my nutrients and you enter you weight and it graphs it for you, "Lose It" is what its called, and it's free, if you have an iphone or ipod touch! Which is handy for me since I am glued to my phone!

hi again :p

try fitday.com it's free and you can keep track of your exercise and daily calories and weight loss and moods and body measurements and.. lol

yep I love snacking too .. got chocolate biscuits, chocolate granola bars, vanilla ice cream, egg-custard pudding, chocolate spread (light) XD ... ahem
but as long as keep under your daily calories or the deficit you want, then you're ok.
Of course if your goal is to eat healthy, it's another story... ^^;

How has yor week been so far?

well, I tried calorie count.com is the site I used before Lose It!, but you probably have a counter by now. Weeks going really good, joined Golds Gym last night, got an appointment with a trainer tonight...gonna evaluate my wife and I...will keep you posted!

Hi CountryGirl,

Good to meet you....regarding that question about online food journal / diary... I use a free online food diary at . I love it. It allows me to build my own dishes and set up my pantry so that capturing becomes an absolute breeze. I even captured my own version of Spaghetti Bolognaise on there as a combo dish. Now it saves me tons of time. I simply choose my dishes and don't have to select the separate ingredients all the time as you have to on most of the other sites. Check it out....and good luck:seeya:
