Hi Everyone,

Im new here obviously
anyway I am 21 years old 5' 9" 302lbs and tired if it.
Im currently a college student taking I.T so that doesnt help the situation.
i got this way by liking food and having sedentary interests like videogames and computers.
ive been browsing trying to figure out where to start and the other day I read Cantona's year on post and I got inspired because someone roughly my size was able to achive such loss in a year, ideally thats what I want. I dont have a goal per se but it would be nice.

im trying to not be unrealistic but I do want to loose fat.
il try not to get hung up on my weight day by day but I do plan on tracking it among other things
currently my goal is to work on my diet so I can start to affordably eat healthy, I feel that is or will be my biggest problem regardless of what I decide to do for exercise.
anyway I will be posting questions about diet and exercise in the appropriate forums but I am taking recommendations.

thanks :)

Hi Dietdude1,

The two key things you need to look at are your calorie intake and exercise.

There are many websites were you can calculate what your daily calorie intake should be, usually 500 calories less than your resting metabolic rate. Your resting metabolic rate, is the calories you expend while at rest. A weight loss of around 2lbs a week is a good figure to aim for.

Exercise is the second essential part of weight loss. I started off with 3, 30 minute workout sessions a week at the gym. A cardio workout routine which involved, the exercise bike, cross trainer and the tread mill (a brisk walking pace). Don't rush things and try not to push yourself too hard.

Lastly, good luck with your weight loss goal. Fad diets never work, it's a change of life style, that works for the long term. Feeling better, having more energy, enjoying life..

Some work is required to achieve most worthwhile things in life, and weight loss is no exception.

I've lost 6 stone, so far, so I know it worked for me.

Regards.

Gary.
