I'm new and a bit confused

Hi,

I'm new here and not totally sure how this works. I'm here because I started binge eating a few months ago and have gained a lot of weight. I need to stop before this gets too out of control but I can't do it alone. Yeah so any advice or ideas anyone has would be much appreciated. Also? Is there a forum or way I can talk to other people here who have had challeges with binge eating?
 
I can't help with your particular question but I wanted to say welcome. Take the time to read the sticky posts at the beginning of the forums to get your feet wet, lots of good stuff there and it will help you get your bearings.
 
Hey there neige. I am new here too and I do a lot of binge eating. The only way to stop is to start stopping :) I know that sounds confusing, but that's the secret. Unless you start doing it, nothing will change. For the past few months I had been trying to start doing something to lose weight, but I kept finding excuses to not do it. However, last thursday I just decided to stop eating boredom foods. START RIGHT NOW. That is the key. Don't put it off to later. So these are the stuff that I do, when I have those 'urges'.

When you feel like eating, immediately go out of the house (without your wallet). Take a walk, read a book, watch a movie, do anything that might distract you. That is how you start. After sometime, go over the whole thing. Give yourself a mental pat in the back for not giving in to those urges. Call a supportive friend and boast. Or come here and start a new post. :)
