I'm new all over again...

I joined this forum the first time about a year ago. I was totally motivated, and armed myself with a gym membership and calorie counting plan...

Then life happened. When things began to not go exactly the way I planned, or would have liked for them to go, I retreated from the forum. Next I quit going to the gym, and since I wasn't exercising, I might as well go for broke and stop counting calories too...

Basically, 2009 was not a good year for me. Not at all.

Aside from rejecting a healthy lifestyle, my husband and I both lost our jobs. We approached total financial ruin, had the electricity and water shut off, but somehow managed to keep a roof over our heads.

Things are still not good, but they are beginning to get a bit more stable. I have electricity again, and because of that I am able to be back on this forum, and make another run at a healthy life!!

Since I don't have all those "tools" that I would like to have (gym membership, exercise equipment, a Wii and Wii Fit...) I think it will actually be easier for me to stay on target this time. Things are far from perfect, and because of that, I'm not expecting things to follow any ideal path. If I encounter a few lemons this time, I'll handle it without acting like a spoiled child!!

A little background information...

My name is Bridget. I'm 27 years old and live in Central Florida. I work part-time as a Substance Abuse Counselor, and attend school part-time for Nursing. I currently need to lose more than 170 pounds, which sounds super intimidating... I know I can do it, it will just require time and determination!!

I have a Weight Loss Diary that I have linked to my signature. I haven't really gotten back into the swing of journaling yet, but I will soon - and would love any support you fine people can give me!

Thanks for still being here when I came crawling back! :piggy::blush5:

Welcome back! Wishing you the best as you continue your journey with renewed drive and motivation. It can seem overwhelming at the beginning (or it did for me when thinking about how much weight there is to lose), but don't let anything stop you. Looking forward to following your progress. You can do this! :grouphug:

ok first, after reading the thread title, first thought in my head.. the song "Like a Virgin". Thanks for that, its stuck there now :D

second tho, congrats on picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and preparing to give it another go.

tee hee... now we're all singing, thanks Big D!! :biggrinjester:

YAY Central Florida!! I'm in Polk County, smack dab in between Tampa and Orlando. I'm always happy to make new friends, but I didn't get any PMs... and now I believe the electronics are out to get me!

I am from NEPA (North East Pennsylvania) originally though, so close to the state border that I went to high school in upstate NY... I've only been down here a little over 5 years, but I figure it beats shoveling snow!

At first, from the photo...I thought you were a man...but now after reading..lol...I see you are a WOMAN who is determined to get a hold on her life!

...I think it's amazing that you are a Substance abuse Counselor part time! I have had several friends go down to drugs (myself included at a young age 18 :( ...snapped out at 19-20)...and I am happy when I find people out there who are trying to make a difference in other people's lives who want it.

...We all have a form of abuse here as well on this site, with food, with exercise, with lack of it,...basically "abusing" our bodies. I think it's amazing that you are here and giving it another try!

...I am sorry to hear about all the financial hardship, though I am glad that you have some stability back. The great thing about being in hardship though, is that it increases your appreciation like CRAZY!...You appreciate the small things, that before you took for granted. Like internet right?! :) ....

...You have a great attitude and I'm sure you will succeed this time, because you are smart, and you are aware that this will take time and that YOU CAN DO IT! :D!

...I'm happy for you & I am So Rooting you on for the Journey! :p!

...That's what life is about afterall...The Journey!...How can you recognize the "highs" if you haven't seen the "lows" right?!...i'm sure you of all people know this!

...My name is Alta & I'm 27 too! I am a Hypnotherapist with 6 months left to graduate :D! I beleive that you are destined for Greatness & I appreciate all the efforts you are doing for the Challenge as well! You go girl! :D! Nice to meet you Bridget!! Let's Do this!!!!!! :cheers2:!

I used to live in Cocoa, FL. I grew up there and went to school on Merritt Island, ... Tropical Elementary represent! lol

Where did you go to high school?! I've been in Upstate NY for about 15 years now. Maybe I know where you went :)

Double small world...

I commuted up from Pennsylvania to go to Notre Dame High School in Elmira, NY. It was about 40 minutes away from where I lived in NEPA!

Haha! No way. Notre Dame is in our division I believe (by our I mean my old high school). I went to school at Spencer-Van Etten Jr/Sr High. I live about 35 minutes from Elmira, used to work out there too. So crazy! You would have graduated a few years before me though. Don't suppose you ever went to any girl's basketball games or track meets in your senior year? lol

Crazy!

I graduated from high school there in 2000... And I can't say I ever frequented many of the sports teams besides football, but look at how small of a world it is!!
