Hi all *waves*

Im Natalie from Nottingham, UK. Im 28 years old and have just given birth to my first child- a little boy named Jake. He is 3 weeks old and is the centre of my world. I also live with the love of my life and our cat

I was about 4 stone overweight before getting pregnant which I was trying to lose through slimming world. I managed 10 lb in about 4 months which isnt that much compared to some of the other members.

I was quite lucky in that most of the weight I put on during my pregnancy has gone now. I put on about 2 stone and lost 1 stone in the first week after the birth. Three weeks later I have 8 lb to go to get to my prepregnancy weight.

I want to lose weight through eating well and excercising by taking my boy out for walks etc as much as possible (as well as trying to get a million things done at any one time lol). I dont want to take too much on. I also dont want to form new bad habits. At the moment I find that Im skipping meals and then eating rubbish as its handy and quick... I cannot let this turn into a habit!!

Anyway, Im here as I was (still am) a member of a briliant forum during my pregnancy, they offered so much support and advice as well as friendship. Im hoping I can gain the same with you guys.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know you all

Congratulations on the birth of your son and bravo to you for wanting to get back into shape. Taking your Son for walks is a great way to start!

I have 3 boys, 18, 16 and 2 (two litters). Each is a joy and a handful. Being a parent is a beautiful thing.

Enjoy your loving family and be sure to give the cat some extra attention!

I'm certain you'll sort your weight out in no time!

We're all here to lend an ear!

Hi and Welcome!
First of CONGRATULATIONS!
I'm also new here and trying to lose weight after giving birth to my first 3 years ago, lol and after my second 10 wks ago.

Going for walks is great for both of you, the baby will love being outside and you'll be getting your exercise. I go for walks daily with my boys, I'm now at 3 miles.

Take care and hope to talk later!

Hi Natalie, and welcome to WLF! Congrats on your new baby and your weight loss so far. We are here for you, and there is an almost infinite supply of advice and information available to you.

It is hard to eat healthy foods when you're on the go and don't have a lot of time. I find that doing some preparation makes a world of difference. When you grocery shop, buy foods that are good for you, and don't necessarily take a lot of time to prepare. I can whip up some nice stirfries in a short amount of time. And I make a lot, so there are leftovers for the next day. I have been following the Curves diet of 6 small meals per day. The book I have has 7 weeks worth of menus, and most of the meals require very little cooking, so it isn't hard to follow. I improvise a lot of the time, switching things around. I just try to keep the calorie/carb count similar. So getting some menus like that could make things a lot easier for you.

You should start a diary here. It makes you more accountable, and you'll get a lot of support from others--not to mention have a lot of laughs.

I've been to Nottingham. I spent a semester in Grantham back in 1992, and we sometimes went to Nottingham for the day as there wasn't much to do in Grantham except drink at the pubs. :)

See you around!

Great news on the birth of a child - I'm just a child myself, so I can't relate much on that, but nonetheless.. congratulations and I wish you nothing but the best. Great that you've committed to getting back into better shape as well. Keep up the good work and enjoy every minute with your family!
