I'm just so frustrated

You know, I really want to lose weight and feel good about myself enough to keep it off. I'm 5'5 and am at my max weight for the second time in the last 3 years of 150 pounds. I haven't been that weight since highschool. I have pretty bad eating habits, don't exercise and I guess I'm frustrated because I want to change but lack the ability to stick with anything to keep that change happening. I don't know if its just me getting lazy or giving up but after about 3 days of exercising or dieting it goes out the door. I don't even make it a week usually. I hate exercise (but love to snowboard, swim at times, and bike with friends) but in my life, i cna't do these things 8 months out of the year due to the weather, etc. I know this sounds like pity me and i'm not writing this for that effect. I just need to hear people tell me to get off my lazy ass and change. Maybe that'll help. Any dieting advice or exercise advice would be welcomed too. I do own a dog and i know he would appreciate a walk here and there but GOD my butt won't move. Knock some sense into me please.

I don't know if it is the same for you or not but if I make it home to the couch I am done. If I take my bike with me to work I will definately go for a ride when the work day is over. Unfortunately that only works about 8 months of the year. I recently joined a gym though. I discovered that if I go there right after work and before I go home that I have no problem going. However, if I make it home first there is very little chance that I will do anything exercise wise.

Oh yeah..........get off your lazy ass and change. ;)

its gonna come down to how bad do you want it and are you willing to do what it takes to get it done. this is a lifestyle. those who start and stop wont get the benefits of it.

a cut and paste of some simple ideas

RULE # 1- Stay away from fats, excessive salt and simple sugars. This eliminates 99% of the fast foods, munchies and soft drinks. Who needs them? In a few short weeks, you won't want them, wonder why you ate them and feel sick if you do!

RULE # 2 - Eat a basic breakfast of complete carbohydrates and protein to set up your metabolism for the day and to provide fuel and muscle building ingredients. Basically, protein builds muscle and carbohydrate supplies fuel for energy. Breakfast can be an easy to prepare meal from a quality protein shake to a bowl of oatmeal, scoop of cottage cheese, fruit and coffee. Remember, if you don't feed yourself a small wholesome meal in the morning, your body will draw on your muscle tissue as a source of energy, putting you in a slump and in muscle deficit. Add a good vitamin and mineral formula each morning to put order and efficiency in your body chemistry.

RULE # 3 - With whatever effort it takes, feed yourself every 3 to 4 hours throughout the day - each meal consisting again of protein and carbohydrate. Any combination of the following is perfect: tuna/rice, lean meat/baked potato, cottage cheese and fruit, chicken/pasta, etc. (Vegetarians - take particular care in order to get plenty of protein in your diet.)

RULE # 4 - In simple English, to gain weight, eat more and eat more often. Be ready for solid bulk weight - lean muscle comes slowly but surely. To lose weight, eat less, still as often, consuming the majority of your calories early in the day.

RULE # 5 - I have always instinctively leaned toward a higher intake of protein over carbohydrate to build a lean body. Though contrary to popular opinion, many doctors and top bodybuilders I've conferred with agree. Emphasize protein.

RULE # 6 - Between meal snacking is okay if the snack is truly nutritious - no junk! Don't let them be a substitute for a meal or become a habit. Good snacks are fruits or vegetables, low fat muffins, protein energy bars, nonfat yogurt, whole wheat bagels, cottage cheese, etc.

RULE # 7 - Simple carbohydrates (sugar and honey) provide us with a quick pickup but let us down just a quickly. Excessive sugar plays havoc with our insulin metabolism and leads to fatigue and fat storage. Not good.

and get off your lazy ass!!!!!

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but are soft drinks really all that bad....of course I mean diet soft drinks! I always hear people saying not to drink them but I have never actually read anything saying that all soft drinks, diet or not, should be stopped when developing a healthy lifestyle....

Oh yeah....and sara...get off your a$$ and get movin' sister! :p :D

I definitely second LowCel....don't let yourself get home w/o working out first!!!
