I’m looking for a forum just like this! I’m 46, overweight all my life. Grew up on a farm, heavy genes, heavy on the butter and meat. I love to cook and of course eat. Never loved veg or fruits. My diet consisted of processed everything, rich dairy, high fat, sugar loaded foods then 15 years ago I jumped on the low/no fat routine. My knees back then allowed me 5 step aerobic classes/week and I was the queen of “no fat” hype, think Susan Powter! I lost 85 pounds in one year and the day I went to maintenance it all came back.

Last June I found myself at 327lb and busting out of the largest clothes I could find in the plus size stores. Then I saw a photo of myself and decided it can’t go on. Since that day 11 months ago I’ve lost 43# and am 2 sizes smaller. I planned to exercise and eat smaller portions. Since that time, I’ve learned so much about metabolism, weight training, high intensity interval training, yoga, complex carbs, and using food as fuel rather than a social/emotional friend. I started day 1 with a food journal, now I count cals and keep to 1700/day and I exercise 6 days a week. My mission is to avoid injury, feel good, look good and boost confidence. All of this is working so far.

My tools: daily food/ex journal, on-line cal counters, my HR monitor, a digital food scale, my personal trainer at SNAP, my home gym, my ipod, and my supportive friends and hubby. Looking forward to learning lots from you all to continue my new lifestyle!
