Hi all,

In need of some motivation & was searching the web and ran across this site. I love the before/after fourm it's really a motivation booster!

Anyways,

My name is Tim, I am going on 37, I currently weigh about 180lbs and I am 5'6". I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol. I am just at that point in my life that I am done! I am done being this person, I been here done that & now it's time to move along! I don't want to do it for me, for my kids & wife. When I got married a decade ago I was 125lbs. My nickname all my life was "toothpick" I was always so small & skinny. A year after I got married I got into a bad accident & was bed ridden for 9months. During that time I gained weight & have never lost it.

I have been stuck in a endless loop for the past few years, I diet for a few weeks then loose motivation, then a few months later go at it again. My wife is about 40lbs overweight herself but, argues with me every time I want to start loosing weight. I am not saying she is trying to sabotage me, but she makes it very difficult for me to keep a routine. She will bring me brownies/ice cream, sweets, pile the food on my dinner plate, I tell her that is not part of my diet & then arguing erupts. She told me tonight after a argument that she doesn't know why she is arguing because within a month's time I will be back to eating whatever again.. I just wish that she would get on board with me loosing weight, it would make it so much easier... But after her comment tonight I am going to prove her wrong! My b-day is end of November so my ideal goal would be to loose enough weight to notice.

I am currently unemployed so I have lots of free time. I should be getting a bowflex dumbell set & bench any day now and will be spending a lot of time with it. I have been jogging/speed walking 2miles a day so far & will start biking after this weekend (need to fix bike).

I started a diet last week & stopped the soda, sweets etc. Eating fruit for snacks instead of the sweets, chips. I have been very happy with myself on my portion control, before I would eat & eat because it was good then be sick for hours. Now I eat slowly and once I am content I am done. I think the hardest part (besides the wife) is stopping the soda... I used to drink 4-6 a day, now it's water or unsweetened tea.

I just wanted to say HI! & thank you in advance for all your support! Hopefully soon I will be doing a before/after post.

Welcome to the forum Tim & Best of luck! I have similar goals to yourself (5'6" and am 174lbs) and have had similar failures in the past (it doesn't last a week and I go back to old habits) so I can definitely relate to you mate. I seen a thread in the before and after section of this forum in which a user shed almost 200lbs, his driving force was spite - so abeit it being a nasty emotion, it can be a great motivator!!

Welcome to the forums! Take some time and check out many of the other diaries for additional motivation.
