I had a baby in novemer and gained about 70 lbs durning my pregnancy I lost about 40 instantly without doing any dieting. Then I stsrted to notice some of the weight coming back so I thought I would follow weight watchers. I was eating 26 points a day and walking for 30 minutes a day however I was still gaining a bit of weight. And I followed the weight watchers point foods to the t. I didn't cheat on it or anything. So now I'm at a loss I really want to lose 30 lbs and have the motivation to do it I just need some other form of how to to it. Please help me...

That's interesting, usually WW works well. I'd love to help you out.

My first guess would be that you're actually eating more than your 26 points w/out realizing it. Are you carefully weighing/measuring everything you eat? It's VERY easy to add on extra calories w/out noticing it.

Also, it's been a long while since I did WW, but isn't the rough equation that 1pt = 100 calories? 26 points may be too much for you. I'm calculating roughly that at 185 lbs, your maintenance calories should be around 2700, you might need to drop your points. I could be wrong about this, because I don't really know how the WW plan works compared to where it was 10 years ago (the last time I did it).

Another thing: while points/calories are important, WHAT you eat is equally important. If you're eating 26 points worth of "diet food" and packaged stuff, it's possible to stall out because you're depriving your body of needed nutrients.

Finally, you say you walk for 30 mins a day, but do you WALK - arms pumping, legs moving, heart rate elevated? Or do you stroll with your baby? Don't get me wrong, any movement is good, but if you're not getting your heart rate up there, then a slow stroll isn't going to make much difference.

This may be a personal question, but are you or were you breastfeeding? Have you recently started your baby on solids? If you are not breastfeeding then this wont apply, but alot of time when an infant starts to eat more and drink less from mommy then you body compensates by decresing milk production which means your body burns less calories per day then before... just a thought.

NO, i point equals 50 calories...i was on weight watchers and lost 70 pounds back in 04'...so 26 points=1300 calories

Ah, in which case I suspect you're eating too little. 1300 calories isn't enough for someone who is a higher weight, even to lose. I'd suggest starting off with maybe 12-13 calories per pound of bodyweight and see what that gets you.

well im still doing it, just measuring exactly therefore wont be getting extra calories. Im sure its gonna work ive got the motivation to stick with it. Ive increased the speed on the treadmill to get my heart rate up. Maybe I wasnt doing everything I was suppose to be doing. Ive lost 1 pound, next monday is weigh in again. I know people who swear by it, my one friend has lost quite a few pounds, one week she lost 6. So im gonna stick with it. For my weight class it says 26-29 points. Anyone want to join in on doing weight watchers, we can keep eachother motivated and help eachother kick the cravings??
